Ross, Skye and Lochaber is a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (Westminster). It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. The constituency covers a central portion of the Highland council area, and at , it covers the largest area of any House of Commons constituency in Britain. Until the 2015 general election, it was represented by former Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy. Loch Carron
Loch Carron (Scottish Gaelic: "Loch Carrann") is a sea loch on the west coast of Ross and Cromarty in the Scottish Highlands, which separates the Lochalsh peninsula from the Applecross peninsula, and from the Stomeferry headland east of Loch Kishorn. It is the point at which the River Carron enters the North Atlantic Ocean. According to the marine charts, the tidal currents reach in the narrows, although not much water disturbance is visible in the flow. At the narrows, the depth of water is less than 20 metres, but in the basins on either side, it extends to a depth of more than 100 metres. Beneath the cliffs at Strome Castle is a colony of flame shells; with a population of over 250 million the loch is the world's largest flame shell bed, and was designated as a Nature Conservation Marine Protected Area (NCMPA) in 2017, with the protection being made permanent in 2018. River Carron, Wester Ross
River Carron ( gd, Carrann, IPA: �kʰaᵲən̴̪ is a west coast river in Wester Ross, in the Highlands of Scotland. The river rises in Ledgowan Forest. It gathers its head-streams through Carron Bog, then enters Loch Scaven and flows out from there, passing Loch Dùghaill and eventually reaching Loch Carron. From Achnashellach the river meanders southwest through the broad strath of Glen Carron and expands at one part into Loch Doule (or Doughaill). About further southwest, it enters the Inner Sound at the head of Loch Carron near Strathcarron. The A890 and a branch of the Highland railway, which extends to Kyle of Lochalsh, runs along part of the river's southeast shore. Stocking of juvenile Atlantic salmon into the River Carron has brought this fish back from the brink of local extinction. Ross-shire
Ross-shire (; gd, Siorrachd Rois) is a historic county in the Scottish Highlands. The county borders Sutherland to the north and Inverness-shire to the south, as well as having a complex border with Cromartyshire – a county consisting of numerous enclaves or exclaves scattered throughout Ross-shire's territory. Ross-shire includes most of Ross along with Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. Dingwall is the traditional county town. The area of Ross-shire is based on that of the historic province of Ross, but with the exclusion of the many enclaves that form Cromartyshire.
