Anton Vidokle
Anton Vidokle is an artist and founder of e-flux. Born 1965, Vidokle lives in New York and Berlin. Work In 2004 Vidokle co-organized e-flux video rental with Julieta Aranda, which traveled to Berlin, Frankfurt; Extra City, Antwerp; Carpenter Center, Harvard University and others. As founder of e-flux, he has produced projects such as Next Documenta Should Be Curated by an Artist (curated by Jens Hoffmann), Do it (curated by Hans-Ulrich Obrist), Utopia Station poster project, and organized An Image Bank for Everyday Revolutionary Life (based on the image archive of David Alfaro Siqueiros) and Martha Rosler Library. In 2005, Vidokle initiated research into education as site for artistic practice as co-curator for Manifesta 6, which was canceled. 1965 Moscow Victory Day Parade
The 1965 Moscow Victory Day Parade ( rus, Парад Победы, r= Parad Pobedy) was held on 9 May 1965 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the capitulation of Nazi Germany in 1945. The parade marks the Soviet Union's victory in the Great Patriotic War. Prior to 1965 Victory Day was not a major holiday and parades were not held, with the exception of the 1945 Victory Day Parade. The Victory Parade of 1965 was the second made after 1945 Victory Day Parade. After this parade next would be held recently in 1985. It also coincided with the first Victory Day Parades to be held in Soviet cities all over the country, with parades being held for the first time in cities such as Vladivostok and Kishinev. Boris Efimovich Groys (born 19 March 1947) is an art critic, media theorist, and philosopher. He is currently a global distinguished professor of Russian and Slavic studies at New York University and senior research fellow at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design in Karlsruhe, Germany. He has been a professor of aesthetics, art history, and media theory at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design/Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe and an internationally acclaimed professor at a number of universities in the United States and Europe, including the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Southern California and the Courtauld Institute of Art London. Accelerationism
Accelerationism is a range of Marxist and reactionary ideas in critical and social theory that call for the drastic intensification of capitalist growth, technological change and other social processes in order to destabilize existing systems and create radical social transformation, otherwise known as "acceleration". The term also refers to the post-Marxist idea that because of capitalism's internal contradictions and instabilities which can jeopardize its growth, the abolition of the system and its class structures could be brought about by its acceleration. e-flux publications includes both the ''e-flux journal'' and ''e-flux journal reader series''. The monthly art publication ''e-flux journal'' features essays and contributions by contemporary artists and thinkers. The ''e-flux journal reader series'' was initiated in 2009 as a joint imprint with Sternberg Press. History In 2009, e-flux began distributing the printed version of the journal as a PDF-to-print edition designed by Adam Florin that can be found at bookshops and art spaces around the world through a network of distributors. The first issue of ''e-flux journal'' was published in December, 2008. Shortly after ''The Building'', Berlin, presented the ''e-flux journal as exhibition'' as part of their public programming, producing issues 0, 1, 2 and 3 in the space over the course of the year. ''frieze'' is a contemporary art magazine, published eight times a year from London. History ''frieze'' was founded in 1991 by Frieze Art Fair founders Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover with artist Tom Gidley. A Damien Hirst butterfly painting was featured in the first ''frieze'' issue. When ''frieze'' began both Sharp and Slotover served as editors, but ceased direct involvement in editorial decisions in 2001. ''October'' is an academic journal specializing in contemporary art, criticism, and theory, published by MIT Press. History ''October'' was established in 1976 in New York by Rosalind E. Krauss and Annette Michelson, who left ''Artforum'' to do so. The founders of the journal were originally known as "Octoberists". Its name is a reference to the Eisenstein film that set the tone of intellectual, politically engaged writing that has been the hallmark of the journal. The journal was a participant in introducing French post-structural theory on the English-speaking academic scene.
