Annemarie Van Haeringen
Annemarie van Haeringen (born 16 February 1959) is a Dutch illustrator. She won the Gouden Penseel award three times: in 1999, 2000 and 2005. She has illustrated books for numerous Dutch authors, including Tonke Dragt, Ted van Lieshout and Bette Westera. In 2019, she published the picture book ''De dag waarop de draak verdween'' with illustrations made entirely using ballpoint pens. In that same year, the book ''Laat een boodschap achter in het zand'' (written by Bibi Dumon Tak) with her illustrations was on the shortlist for the ''Jan Wolkers Prijs''. In 2023, Van Haeringen and Bibi Dumon Tak won the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs for the book ''Vandaag houd ik mijn spreekbeurt over de anaconda''. Gouden Griffel
The Gouden Griffel (Golden Stylus) is an award given to authors of children's or teenagers' literature in the Netherlands. History Since 1971, it is awarded each year during the Boekenweek, Dutch Children's Books Week, by the Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek, Stichting Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek (Dutch Book Promotion Society) for the best children's books written in the past year. Between 1954 and 1970, one book per year was declared the "children's book of the year". Since then, ''griffels'' are awarded in several categories. Only novels written in Dutch are eligible for the ''gouden griffel''. However, the runner-up awards (Silver ''griffels'') can also be given to translated works. Digital Library For Dutch Literature
The Digital Library for Dutch Literature (Dutch: Digitale Bibliotheek voor de Nederlandse Letteren or DBNL) is a website (showing the abbreviation as dbnl) about Dutch language and Dutch literature. It contains thousands of literary texts, secondary literature and additional information, like biographies, portrayals etcetera, and hyperlinks. The DBNL is an initiative by the DBNL foundation that was founded in 1999 by the Society of Dutch Literature (Dutch: Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde). Building of the DNBL was made possible by donations, among others, from the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (Dutch: Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek or NWO) and the Nederlandse Taalunie. From 2008 to 2012, the editor was René van Stipriaan. The work is done by eight people in Leiden (as of 2013: The Hague), 20 students, and 50 people in the Philippines who scan and type the texts. Tonke Dragt
Antonia "Tonke" Johanna Willemina Dragt (born 12 November 1930) is a Dutch writer and illustrator of children's literature. Her book '' De brief voor de Koning'' was chosen by CPNB as the best Dutch youth book of the latter half of the twentieth century. Biography Childhood in Batavia Antonia Johanna Willemina Dragt, better known as Tonke Dragt, was born in 1930 in Batavia on the Dutch East Indies (currently Jakarta in Indonesia) as the eldest daughter of a Dutch insurance agent based in Batavia. Dragt was initially called "Tonneke" (Dutch for 'tubby'), a name she disliked "because I was tall and thin". She attended the Nassau School. Her family environment was creative: her father and one of her sisters were also interested in writing and the Dragt family had their own 'house library'. Ted Van Lieshout
Ted van Lieshout (born 21 December 1955) is a Dutch poet and writer of children's literature. He has won numerous awards for his work. Early life Van Lieshout was born in 1955 in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Van Lieshout studied ''Beeldende Kunsten en Vormgeving'' between 1975 and 1980 at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Until 1990 he was part-time teacher at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. After graduating van Lieshout made drawings for the newspaper ''NRC Handelsblad'' as well as magazines such as '' Avenue'' and ''Blauw Geruite Kiel'', the youth magazine of ''Vrij Nederland''. He also contributed to the television shows '' Het Klokhuis'' and '' Sesamstraat''. He became a full-time writer in 1990. Bette Westera
Bette Westera (born 20 June 1958) is a Dutch children's writer. She has won numerous awards for her work. Career Westera made her debut as children's book author in 1999 with the book ''Wil je met me trouwen?'' Westera went on to win numerous awards for her work, including the Gouden Griffel and the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs in 2015 for her poetry collection ''Doodgewoon'' (with illustrations by Sylvia Weve). The previous time a poetry collection won the Gouden Griffel award was twenty years prior in 1995 (Ted van Lieshout's ''Begin een torentje van niks''). She also won several Zilveren Griffel awards as well as several Vlag en Wimpel awards over the years. Margaretha Anna (Bibi) Dumon Tak (born 21 December 1964) is a Dutch writer of children's literature. After completing her degree in Dutch Literature, in 2001 Bibi Dumon Tak began her career as a children's non-fiction author with ''Het koeienboek'' (The Cow Book, 2001). Career Dumon Tak made her debut in 2002 with the book ''Het koeienboek''. She won the Zilveren Griffel award for this book. She went on to win the Zilveren Griffel award several more times in the years that followed: in 2004 for ''Camera loopt... The Woutertje Pieterse Prijs (Dutch for Woutertje Pieterse Prize) is an annual Dutch literary award for the best children's book of the preceding year. History The award was first given in 1988. The award is awarded annually in March or April. The award is named after the character Woutertje Pieterse in ''Ideeën'' written by Multatuli. The award's name refers to the character's curiosity and tendency to go against society's morals. In a similar way, the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs is awarded to books that differ from children's literature with a didactic or moralistic nature. Some authors have received the award multiple times, including Toon Tellegen (1992, 1994), Joke van Leeuwen (1997, 1999) and Paul Biegel (1991, 2000).
