Anne Therese Of Savoy
Anne Thérèse of Savoy (1 November 1717 – 5 April 1745) was a Savoyard princess born in Paris, France. She was the second wife of Charles de Rohan, Prince de Soubise, a military leader and friend of Louis XV. She was also a first half-cousin of Louis sharing the same grandfather Victor Amadeus II of Sardinia. Biography Born at the Parisian '' Hôtel de Soissons'', she was a member of a cadet branch of the House of Savoy. Her father was the Prince di Carignano. Princess Of Soubise
Within the French nobility, the title of "Princess of Soubise" was given to the current wife of the Prince of Soubise. The title was created in 1667 when the '' sirerie'' of Soubise, Charente-Maritime was raised to a principality. The first princess was Anne de Rohan-Chabot (1638-1709). There were eight princesses in all, ending with Princess Viktoria of Hesse-Rheinfels-Rotenburg (1728-1792), who was married to the last prince, Charles (1715-1787), the title being extinguished upon Charles' death. ''maîtresse-en-titre'' () was the chief royal mistress of the King of France. The title came into use during the reign of Henry IV and continued through the reign of Louis XV. It was a semi-official position which came with its own apartments. The position could come with significant power, as some mistresses were known to advise the king, broker favors for clients, forge alliances, and negotiate with foreign diplomats. In contrast, the title ''petite maîtresse'' was the title of a mistress who was not officially acknowledged. Charlotte Élisabeth Godefride De Rohan
Charlotte de Rohan (''Charlotte Godefride Élisabeth''; 7 October 1737 – 4 March 1760) was a French aristocrat who married into the House of Condé, a cadet branch of the ruling House of Bourbon, during the Ancien Régime. She was Princess of Condé by her marriage. She has no known descendants today as her grandson, heir to the Condé family, died without children and her daughter remained childless. François-Armand-Auguste de Rohan-Soubise, Prince of Tournon, Prince of Rohan (1 December 1717, Paris – 28 June 1756, Saverne) was a French prelate, Prince-Bishop of Strasbourg. His parents, Anne Julie de Melun and Jules, Prince de Soubise, both died of smallpox when he was still a child. Biography He received Holy Orders as a Catholic priest on 23 December 1741 and received the position of commendatory abbot first of the Abbey of Ventadour, which was succeeded by that of Saint-Epvre (in the Diocese of Toul) from 1736, and later added was that of Prince-Abbot of the Abbeys of Murbach and of Lure in 1737. He was elected to the Académie française on 15 July 1741. A year later he was appointed coadjutor bishop of the Diocese of Strasbourg. The House of Rohan ( br, Roc'han) is a Breton family of viscounts, later dukes and princes in the French nobility, coming from the locality of Rohan in Brittany. Their line descends from the viscounts of Porhoët and is said to trace back to the legendary Conan Meriadoc. Through the Porhoët, the Rohan are related to the Dukes of Brittany, with whom the family intermingled again after its inception. During the Middle Ages, it was one of the most powerful families in the Duchy of Brittany.
