Anna Caballero
Anna Marie Caballero (born April 18, 1955) is an American politician serving in the California State Senate. A Democrat, she represents the 12th State Senate district, encompassing the Salinas Valley and part of the Central Valley. She previously served in the California State Assembly representing the 30th Assembly District, encompassing the Pajaro and Salinas Valleys in the Central Coast, from 2016 to 2018 and the 28th Assembly District from 2006 to 2010. Early life and education Born in Arizona to a family of copper miners, Caballero moved to the Salinas Valley to work for California Rural Legal Assistance. She received her B.A. degree from the University of California, San Diego and her J.D. degree from the UCLA School of Law. Pajaro Valley
The Pajaro River (''pájaro'' is ''bird'' in Spanish) is a U.S. river in the Central Coast region of California, forming part of the border between San Benito and Santa Clara Counties, the entire border between San Benito and Santa Cruz County, and the entire border between Santa Cruz and Monterey County. Flowing roughly east to west, the river empties into Monterey Bay, west of Watsonville, California. History The first European land exploration of Alta California, the Spanish Portolà expedition, camped near the river for two nights, in the vicinity of today's community of Pajaro, on October 8–9, 1769. The California State and Consumer Services Agency (SCSA) was a state cabinet-level agency of the executive branch of California. It was replaced by the California Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency (BCSH) effective July 1, 2013. Upset (competition)
An upset occurs in a competition, frequently in electoral politics or sports, when the party popularly expected to win (the "favorite"), either loses to or draws/ties a game with an underdog whom the majority expects to lose, defying the conventional wisdom. If it happens in a cup competition, it is sometimes referred to as a "cupset" (a portmanteau, combining the words "cup" and "upset"). Ceres, California
Ceres is a city in Stanislaus County, California. Its population was 49,302 at the 2020 U.S. Census, up from 45,417 at the 2010 U.S. Census. It is part of the Modesto metropolitan statistical area. Ceres is located in the San Joaquin Valley along State Route 99, south of Modesto and north of Turlock in Stanislaus County. Ceres is named after the Roman goddess of agriculture. The newspaper in Ceres is called the ''Ceres Courier'', which has been in publication since 1910. The offices of the ''Ceres Courier'' were relocated from an address in downtown Ceres in 2012. The California Republican Party (CAGOP) is the affiliate of the United States Republican Party in the U.S. state of California. The party is based in Sacramento and is led by chair Jessica Millan Patterson.
