Andrii Govorov
Andriy Andriyovych Govorov ( uk, Андрій Андрійович Говоров; born 10 April 1992) is a Ukrainian competitive swimmer who holds the world record, European champion ( 2016 London) and bronze medalist in world championship ( 2017 Budapest) in 50 meters butterfly. Personal life Govorov was born on 10 April 1992 in Sevastopol, Ukraine. A graduate of the Dnipro Higher School of Physical Culture, in 2016 he also attended the Dnipro National University. Career International Swimming League In spring 2020, Govorov signed to thToronto Titans in their inaugural season. European Championships Govorov won a silver medal at the 50 meter butterfly and a bronze medal at the 50 meter freestyle during the 2010 European Short Course Swimming Championships. During the 2010 FINA Short Course World Championships he again won a silver medal at the 50 meter butterfly. Butterfly Stroke
The butterfly (colloquially shortened to fly) is a List of swimming styles, swimming stroke swum on the chest, with both arms moving symmetrically, accompanied by the butterfly kick (also known as the "dolphin kick"). While other styles like the breaststroke, front crawl, or backstroke can be swum adequately by beginners, the butterfly is a more difficult stroke that requires good technique as well as strong muscles. It is the newest swimming (sport), swimming style swum in competition, first swum in 1933 and originating out of the breaststroke. Speed and ergonomics The peak speed of the butterfly is faster than that of the front crawl due to the synchronous pull/push with both arms and legs, which is done quickly. The 2013 European Short Course Swimming Championships took place in Herning, Denmark, from 12 to 15 December 2013. 2017 European Short Course Swimming Championships
The 2017 European Short Course Swimming Championships took place in Copenhagen, Denmark from 13 to 17 December 2017. The meet was held in the Royal Arena, which was finished in early 2017. It was the first major sports event in this arena, which has a capacity of circa 12,500. It was the second time that Denmark hosted this event, after the 2013 edition in Herning. Bidding process Poland and Italy were also bidding to host the championships. The decision to select Copenhagen was announced by LEN President Paolo Barelli on 9 October 2015. 2010 European Short Course Swimming Championships
The 2010 European Short Course Swimming Championships was held 25–28 November 2010 at Pieter van den Hoogenband Zwemstadion in Eindhoven, Netherlands. The meet featured competition amongst national teams from Europe, in 38 short course (25m) swimming events. The competition featured a preliminary/semifinals/final format for the 50 and 100 events, a timed-final format (swimmers swim only once) in the 800/1500 freestyles, and prelims/final for all other events. 2015 European Short Course Swimming Championships
The 2015 European Short Course Swimming Championships (25 m) took place in Netanya, Israel, from 2–6 December 2015. They were originally scheduled to be held in January 2015, but the LEN moved the event to December. The venue of the event was the brand new swimming complex of the Wingate Institute. This complex features an Olympic-size pool with 10 lanes and 3 meter depth, backed by the latest built-in filtration systems, an 8-lane 50 m pool and a 6-lane 25 m pool. The swimmer of the meet honors went to Katinka Hosszú of Hungary and Gregorio Paltrinieri of Italy. Hosszú won six gold medals and one silver, breaking two world records and six championship records, while Paltrinieri won one gold medal in a world record time. The 2014 European Aquatics Championships took place from 13 to 24 August 2014 in Berlin, Germany. It was the 31st edition of the championships, and was held in a temporary facility placed in the centre of the Berlin Velodrome.
