Amazing Adventure
''The Amazing Quest of Ernest Bliss'' is a 1936 British romantic comedy film directed by Alfred Zeisler and starring Cary Grant. It is a remake of the 1920 film '' The Amazing Quest of Mr. Ernest Bliss'', based on ''The Curious Quest'', a 1919 novel by E. Phillips Oppenheim. The film was issued in the United States in 1937 under the title ''The Amazing Adventure'' (and subsequently ''Romance and Riches''), but edited down to 62 minutes from the reputed original UK running time of 80 minutes. All currently circulating copies are of the US edit, but the British Film Institute has several archive prints of 77 minutes in length. The film is often believed to be in the public domain and appears on many budget VHS and DVD releases, but as director Alfred Zeisler did not die until 1985, UK copyright subsists until the end of 2055. Peter Gawthorne
Peter Gawthorne (1 September 1884 – 17 March 1962) was an Anglo-Irish actor, probably best known for his roles in the films of Will Hay and other popular British comedians of the 1930s and 1940s. Gawthorne was one of Britain's most called-upon supporting actors during this period. Early life and career He was born in 1884 in Queen's County (now County Laois) in Ireland, but spent most of his career in England. After two years at the ''Academy of Dramatic Art'', Gawthorne began a career on the London stage, eventually running up over twenty years experience there. Charles Farrell (Irish Actor)
Charles Farrell (6 August 1900 – 27 August 1988) was an Irish stage, film and television actor. Born 6 August 1900 in Dublin, Ireland, Farrell moved to America and appeared in a stock company in Detroit when a child. In 1921 he moved to England and made his first stage appearance at the Coliseum. His first film appearance was in John Bunny and Flora Finch comedies. Unlike his heroic American namesake, he was (later) cast in villainous film roles. This contrasted with his frequent broadcasts of fairy tales on BBC radio's ''Children's Hour''. Andreas Malandrinos
Andreas Malandrinos ( el, Ανδρέας Μαλανδρίνος; 14 November 1888, in Greece – 11 July 1970, in Surrey) was a Greek-born actor who started appearing in British films from 1930, until his death 40 years later in Surrey, England. He was fluent in six languages and used this talent to good effect to flourish as a dialect comedian in British music halls. Many of his film appearances were so fleeting that his characters often had no names, only descriptions, e.g. "Valet with violin" in ''The Prince and the Showgirl'' (1957) and "Woodcutter" in ''The Fearless Vampire Killers'' (1967). Garry Marsh
Garry Marsh (21 June 1902 – 6 March 1981) was an English stage and film actor. Born Leslie Marsh Gerahty in St Margarets, Surrey, his parents were George and Laura. His elder brothers were the author Digby George Gerahty and the journalist Cecil Gerahty. Marsh began acting on the stage at the age of fifteen. He started off in films as a leading man but later became a character actor playing self-important roles. During the War he served as a Flying Officer in the RAF. In the mid-1950s, he chronicled his wartime adventures in North Africa in the memoir ''Sand in My Spinach''. Marsh married Adele Lawson in 1920 in Kensington, London. He married for the second time to Muriel Martin-Harvey in 1926 in Chelsea, London before divorcing in 1935.
