Allerton is a suburb of Liverpool, England. Historically in Lancashire, it is located southeast of the city centre and is bordered by the suburbs of Garston, Hunt's Cross, Mossley Hill, and Woolton. It has a number of large houses in the prestigious Calderstones Park area, with mainly 1930s semi-detached housing around the shopping area of Allerton Road. It is paired with Hunts Cross to form the Allerton and Hunts Cross city council ward, which had a population of 14,853 at the 2011 census. Allertonshire or Allerton was a wapentake and liberty in the North Riding of Yorkshire, England. Northallerton, current name of Allerton, was historically associated with the Bishopric of Durham, being an ecclesiastical peculiar and exclave until the 19th century. The shires central location in the North Riding (1889-1974) and its successor North Yorkshire (1974-present) allowed the town to become the administrative centre for both counties. The Warwick Allerton - Chicago (formerly Allerton Hotel and Warwick Allerton Hotel Chicago and Allerton Crowne Plaza Hotel) is a 25-story hotel skyscraper on the Magnificent Mile in the Near North Side community area of Chicago, Illinois. It was the first building in the city to feature pronounced setbacks and towers resulting from the 1923 zoning law. The building was designated a Chicago Landmark on May 29, 1998. When the Allerton Hotel first opened, it had fourteen floors of small apartment-style rooms for men and six similar floors for women, with a total of 1,000 rooms. The hotel also boasted social events, gold, sports leagues, a library, solarium, and an in-house magazine. An early resident was Louis Skidmore, founder of the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Allerton Garden, also known as Lāwai-kai, is a botanical garden, originally created by Robert Allerton and John Gregg Allerton, located on the south shore of Kauai, Hawaii. The garden covers an area and is situated beside the Lāwai Bay, in a valley transected by the Lāwai Stream. It is one of the five gardens of the non-profit National Tropical Botanical Garden. Allerton is a village in Sidell Township, Vermilion County, Illinois, United States. A small portion of the village extends into Champaign County. The population was 262 at the 2020 census. History Samuel W. Allerton was a wealthy landowner in Vermilion County who had made his fortune on the agricultural and livestock markets. He was one of the founders of the First National Bank of Chicago and Co-founder of the Chicago Union Stockyards. The town was founded on a tract of land in the southwestern part of the county which Allerton purchased in 1880. It had formerly been known as Twin Grove Farm (because of two very similar groves of trees in the area). Northallerton ( ) is a market town and civil parish in the Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England. It lies in the Vale of Mowbray and at the northern end of the Vale of York. It had a population of 16,832 in the 2011 census, an increase from 15,741 in 2001. It has served as the county town of the North Riding of Yorkshire and, since 1974, of North Yorkshire. Allerton Railway Station
Allerton railway station was a railway station on the City Line of the Merseyrail network, located in the suburbs of Liverpool, England. History It opened on 15 February 1864 with the opening of the St Helens and Runcorn Gap Railway's extension to Edge Hill. Despite the name, it was not located in the suburb of Allerton, but in neighbouring Garston. The station was located at the Allerton Junction of the routes from Liverpool to Manchester and Crewe. Prior to closure, the station was served by the hourly Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Oxford Road service. A stopping service to Crewe ran for many years, but was withdrawn in the early 1990s. Moor Allerton is an area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The area is situated in North Leeds, near to King Lane and the Leeds Outer Ring Road. Description The majority of Moor Allerton is situated in the Alwoodley ward of Leeds City Council and the southern part (below the Outer Ring Road) is in the Moortown ward.
