Allan Greer
''The People of New France'' (french: Brève histoire des peuples de la Nouvelle-France, links=no) is a book of Canadian history during the 17th and 18th centuries written by Allan Greer and published by the University of Toronto Press in 1997 and by Boréal in 1998 for the French version, as part of the ''Themes in Canadian History'' series. Unlike works of history that focus on the political histories of government officials and the clergy, Greer focuses on the day-to-day reality of living in French colonial Canada. One 2007 review of the book describes the treatment as focusing on "... colonial society 'as it was' by examining the 'frameworks of ordinary life' – death, birth, marriage, food, race, class." Academic use ''The People of New France'' have been recognized by Canadian academics as a noteworthy addition to the writings on Canadian history through incorporation into college and high school level coursework. The University of Toronto Press is a Canadian university press founded in 1901. Although it was founded in 1901, the press did not actually publish any books until 1911. The press originally printed only examination books and the university calendar. Its first scholarly book was a work by a classics professor at University College, Toronto. The press took control of the university bookstore in 1933. It employed a novel typesetting method to print issues of the ''Canadian Journal of Mathematics'', founded in 1949. Sidney Earle Smith, president of the University of Toronto in the late 1940s and 1950s, instituted a new governance arrangement for the press modelled on the governing structure of the university as a whole (on the standard Canadian university governance model defined by the Flavelle commission). Northern Lights College (NLC) is an institution that provides post-secondary education to residents of Northern British Columbia. It currently has campuses and access centers in eight communities across the northern third of British Columbia, with Regional Administration located on the Dawson Creek campus. NLC has a working agreement with the University of Northern British Columbia. The college President and CEO (Oct. 2015) is Dr. Bryn Kulmatycki.
