Alan Myerson
Alan Myerson (born July 1, 1940) is an Americans, American film and television director. Career Myerson began working in theatre in New York City, then directing The Second City in Chicago. He founded the improvisational comedy troupe The Committee (improv group), The Committee in San Francisco in 1963. He directed films in the 1970s and 1980s, and has directed over 200 television episodes for shows such as ''Ally McBeal'', ''Boston Public'', ''Friends'', ''Boy Meets World'', ''The Larry Sanders Show'', ''Picket Fences'', ''Miami Vice,'' ''Laverne & Shirley'', ''Rhoda'', ''The Bob Newhart Show'', and ''Busting Loose (TV series), Busting Loose''. He has taught acting at University of California at Berkeley, UC Berkeley, San Francisco State University, SF State, and directing at Maine Media Workshops. ''Ned & Stacey'' (or ''Ned and Stacey'') is an American sitcom created by Michael J. Weithorn, and starring Thomas Haden Church and Debra Messing as the titular couple. The series lasted two seasons, airing on Fox from September 11, 1995, to January 27, 1997. Premise Stacey Colbert (Messing) is desperate to move out of her parents' house and find a place to live in New York City. It was a 30-minute comedy-variety series created by Michael Nesmith as a continuation of his Grammy Award-winning video production ''Elephant Parts'', and earlier series PopClips. The first episode was a stand-alone television special which aired on March 7, 1985. The following series premiered on June 14, 1985. TVTV (short for Top Value Television) was a San Francisco-based video collective that produced documentary video works using guerrilla art techniques. History The group was founded in 1972 by Allen Rucker, Michael Shamberg, Tom Weinberg, Hudson Marquez, and Megan Williams. Shamberg was the author of the 1971 "do-it-yourself" video production manual '' Guerrilla Television'' TVTV pioneered the use of independent video based on the new and then-revolutionary media, ½" Sony Portapak video equipment, later embracing the ¾" video format. In 1975 the group left San Francisco for Los Angeles, where it took up a contract with PBS to shoot ''Supervisions'', a series of short tapes on television history. The group disbanded in 1979. ''Billy Jack'' is a 1971 American action drama independent film, the second of four films centering on a character of the same name which began with the movie ''The Born Losers'' (1967), played by Tom Laughlin, who directed and co-wrote the script. Filming began in Prescott, Arizona, in the fall of 1969, but the movie was not completed until 1971. American International Pictures pulled out, halting filming. 20th Century-Fox came forward and filming eventually resumed but when that studio refused to distribute the film, Warner Bros. stepped forward. Still, the film lacked distribution, so Laughlin booked it into theaters himself in 1971.
