Rod Phillips (politician)
Rod Phillips is a Canadian businessman and former politician who sat as the member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for Ajax from 2018 to 2022. A member of the Progressive Conservative (PC) Party, Phillips served as Ontario's minister of the environment, conservation and parks from 2018 to 2019, minister of finance from 2019 to 2020, and minister of long-term care from 2021 to 2022. Before politics, Phillips was the former president and CEO of Shepell-fgi, a professional services company, from 2002 to 2010; the president and CEO of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) from 2011 to 2014; the chair of Postmedia from 2014 to 2017; and chair of CivicAction from 2014 to 2017. The Ontario Libertarian Party (OLP; french: Parti libertarien de l'Ontario) is a minor libertarian party in the Canadian province of Ontario. Founded in 1975 by Bruce Evoy and Vince Miller, the party was inspired by the 1972 formation of the United States Libertarian Party. Joe Dickson (1940-April 6, 2022) was a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 2007 to 2018 who represented the riding of Ajax—Pickering. Background Dickson was born and raised in Ajax, Ontario. He was the owner of a printing business, Dickson Printing Ltd. Dickson was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. He supports 22 Ajax-Pickering area sports teams. He lived in Ajax with his wife Donna. They have two adult children and five grandchildren. He died April 7, 2022. Ajax—Pickering was a provincial electoral district in central Ontario, Canada. It was first contested in the 2007 provincial election. 55.2% of the riding came from Pickering—Ajax—Uxbridge while 44.8% came from Whitby—Ajax. The riding included all of the Town of Ajax plus that part of the City of Pickering north of Finch Avenue and east of Brock Road, as well as the area north of Highway 401 and east of Valley Farm Road.
