''Hudson's Adventure Island'', known as in Japan and also known as ''Adventure Island'', is a side-scrolling platform game produced by Hudson Soft that was released in Japan for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Famicom and MSX on September 12, 1986. ''Adventure Island'' was released in North America for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988 and in the PAL region in 1992. ''Adventure Island'' is an adaptation of the arcade game ''Wonder Boy (video game), Wonder Boy'', developed by Westone Bit Entertainment, Escape for Sega. ''Adventure Island'' was followed by a series of sequels with no connection to the ''Wonder Boy'' series. Plot The player controls Master Higgins (known as Master Wigins in the United Kingdom and as Takahashi Meijin in Japanese versions), a young man who ventured to Adventure Island in the South Pacific after hearing that the Evil Witch Doctor kidnapped Princess Tina. Hudson Soft
was a Japanese video game company that released numerous games for video game consoles, home computers and mobile phones, mainly from the 1980s to the 2000s. It was headquartered in the Midtown Tower in Tokyo Midtown, Akasaka, Minato, Tokyo, Japan, with an additional office in the Hudson Building in Sapporo. Hudson Soft was founded on May 18, 1973. Initially, it dealt with personal computer products, but later expanded to the development and publishing of video games, mobile content, video game peripherals and music recording.
