Adnan Badr Hassan
Adnan Badr Hassan ( ar, عدنان بدر حسن) is a retired Syrian major general, politician and the former chief of Syria's political security directorate. Background Hassan hails from Alawite family from Al Mukharram, Homs governorate. He received religious education in Homs and attended the Homs Military Academy. Career Hassan was a major general in the Syrian army. In 1973, he fought in Arab-Israeli war and was decorated for his performance. During the illness of the Syrian President Hafez Assad in the period between November 1983 and March 1984 Hassan was made one of the members of the secret military commanders committee. One of Hassan's commands was the ninth mechanized infantry of the army in 1985. He was appointed head of the political security directorate in 1987, replacing Ahmad Said Salih in the post. Political Security Directorate (PSD, ar, إدارة الأمن السياسي, ''Idarat al-Amn al-Siyasi'') is an intelligence service of the Syrian government. It is divided into an Internal Security Department and an External Security Department. Intelligence division is affiliated to the Ministry of Interior. It is active against the Syrian opposition. It monitors political dissent and all media outlets. This intelligence service has been headed by Major General Ghaith Shafeeq Deeb since February 5, 2021. The Yom Kippur War, also known as the Ramadan War, the October War, the 1973 Arab–Israeli War, or the Fourth Arab–Israeli War, was an armed conflict fought from October 6 to 25, 1973 between Israel and a coalition of Arab world, Arab states led by History of Egypt under Anwar Sadat#Domestic policy and the Infitah, Egypt and Syria.
