Ada Ferrer
Ada Ferrer is a Cuban-American historian. She is Julius Silver Professor of History and Latin American Studies at New York University. She was awarded the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in History for her book ''Cuba: An American History''. Early life She was born in Havana, Cuba, migrated to the United States in 1963, and grew up in West New York, New Jersey. Ferrer holds an AB degree in English from Vassar College, 1984, an MA degree in History from University of Texas at Austin, 1988, and a PhD in History from the University of Michigan, 1995. Career She is currently a Julius Silver Professor of History and Latin American Studies at New York University. She has won the 2015 Frederick Douglass Prize for her book ''Freedom's Mirror: Cuba and Haiti in the Age of Revolution''. Brackets
A bracket is either of two tall fore- or back-facing punctuation marks commonly used to isolate a segment of text or data from its surroundings. Typically deployed in symmetric pairs, an individual bracket may be identified as a 'left' or 'right' bracket or, alternatively, an "opening bracket" or "closing bracket", respectively, depending on the Writing system#Directionality, directionality of the context. Specific forms of the mark include parentheses (also called "rounded brackets"), square brackets, curly brackets (also called 'braces'), and angle brackets (also called 'chevrons'), as well as various less common pairs of symbols. As well as signifying the overall class of punctuation, the word "bracket" is commonly used to refer to a specific form of bracket, which varies from region to region.
