Academia Quintana
Academia Quintana F.C. are an Association Football club from San Juan, Puerto Rico. They were founded in 1969, making them one of the oldest clubs still in existence in Puerto Rico. They are one of the founding members of the Puerto Rico Soccer League, the island's first nationwide league. The reserve team plays in the Liga Nacional. The club plays their home games at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium, sharing the facility with Atléticos de San Juan. The team currently plays in the Liga Puerto Rico. History The team was founded in 1969, playing in a baseball field. The team was named after a public housing project, also known as ''Residencial César Cordero'', since it served to develop several players that lived there. Hiram Bithorn Stadium
Hiram Bithorn Stadium (Spanish: Estadio Hiram Bithorn) is a baseball park in San Juan, Puerto Rico, built in 1962 and designed by Puerto Rican architect Pedro Miranda. It is operated by the municipal government of the city of San Juan. Its name honors the first Puerto Rican to play in the major leagues, Hiram Bithorn, who first played with the Chicago Cubs in 1942. Built in 1962, under the mayoral administration of Felisa Rincón de Gautier, replacing Estadio Sixto Escobar, the stadium is home to the Santurce Crabbers, of the Puerto Rico Baseball League. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. Dimensions The stadium has approximately 18,000 seats. Campeonato Nacional de Fútbol de Puerto Rico is an amateur football league in Puerto Rico. As of 2008 it has been replaced as the highest level football league in the country by the Puerto Rico Soccer League. It was created in 2005 by the Federación Puertorriqueña de Fútbol to unify the domestic football scene (but only managed to get the attention of Liga Mayor teams, whilst most teams chose to stay in La Liga Premier, another amateur league).
