"Azúcar amargo" is a song recorded by Mexican singer Fey from her second album ''Tierna la Noche''. The song was written by Mario Ablanedo with his production alongside David Boradoni, and it was released as the album's lead single on 16 October 1996 through Sony Music Entertainment Mexico. A dance pop song about a relationship which brings her both joy and pain; the song's title literally means 'bitter sugar', and is used in the context of the term ' bittersweet'. It quickly became a hit song, reaching the number-one in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru. María Fernanda Blázquez Gil (born 21 July 1973), known professionally as Fey, is a Mexican singer and songwriter. She rose to fame with her first three studio albums, which established her as a teen idol and fashion icon of the 1990s in Latin America. In 1995, Fey debuted with her self-titled album, which went platinum in Mexico. The ''Billboard'' Hot Latin Songs (formerly Hot Latin Tracks and Hot Latin 50) is a record chart in the United States for Latin songs, published weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. Since October 2012, chart rankings are based on digital sales, radio airplay, and online streaming, and only predominantly Spanish-language songs are allowed to rank. Latin Pop Airplay is a record chart, chart published by ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' magazine that ranks the top-performing songs (regardless of genre or language) on Latin pop radio stations in the United States, based on weekly Rotation (music), airplay data compiled by Nielsen Holdings, Nielsen's Broadcast Data Systems.
