''Azucena'' is a Venezuelan telenovela written by María Antonieta Gómez and Édgar Mejías and produced by Radio Caracas Televisión in 1984. The series lasted only 32 episodes, and was distributed internationally by RCTV International. Grecia Colmenares and Javier Vidal starred as the main protagonists. Synopsis Azucena is a humble young woman from the poor side of town who sees her wedding plans to Rodolfo, a rich young man, crumble. His family does not accept this marriage due to the difference in social background. A family debt makes Rodolfo marry Brenda Mirabal and Azucena decides to marry an old boyfriend in spite of the fact that she is expecting Rodolfo’s baby, who is not aware of the truth. ''Azucena'' is a 2000 Filipino drama film directed by Carlos Siguion-Reyna. The film stars Ricky Davao, Glydel Mercado, Dante Rivero and Alessandra de Rossi on her theatrical debut. This also marks Anjanette Abayari's final theatrical appearance, albeit on a special participation role. Plot Lily (Alessandra) lives with her father Tomas (Ricky) and stepmother (Glydel). Her parents sell Lily's aging dog, whom she calls her best friend, to Teban (Dante) for dog meat and ''asocena''. Lily, however, convinces Teban to return her dog and then begins a friendship with him. This causes the ire of her friends and family. Teban becomes her surrogate father, who supports her for her needs. Mircea Mureșan
Mircea Mureșan (11 November 1928 – 24 April 2020) was a Romanian film director. He directed 22 films between 1961 and 2004. Mureșan won the prize for Best First Work at the 1966 Cannes Film Festival for the film ''Răscoala''. Born in Sibiu, he attended from 1939 to 1947 the Gheorghe Lazăr High School in his native city. He then played at the State Theatre of Sibiu for four years, after which he went to Bucharest to pursue his studies, graduating from the Institute of Film I.L. Caragiale in 1955. His film career, which began with film adaptations, gradually reoriented towards comedy, with rare trips into documentaries. From 1974 to 1989 Mureșan was vice-president of the Romanian Filmmakers Association. In 2002, he was awarded by then-President Ion Iliescu the National Order of Faithful Service, Knight rank.
