Azizur Rahman (film Director)
Azizur Rahman (10 October 1939 – 14 March 2022) was a Bangladeshi film director. His directorial debut was the 1967 film, ''Saiful Mulk Badiuzzamal''. During his career, he directed 53 films in total. His notable films include ''Chhutir Ghonta'' (1980) and ''Ashikkhito'' (1978). Personal life On 14 March 2022, Rahman died of a heart attack at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering Hospital in Toronto, Canada. Earlier, due to illness, he was treated in a hospital in Canada for a year. Bogra ( bn, বগুড়া), officially known as Bogura, is a major city located in Bogra District, Rajshahi Division, Bangladesh. The city is a major commercial hub in Northern Bangladesh. The Bengal Presidency, officially the Presidency of Fort William and later Bengal Province, was a subdivision of the British Empire in India. At the height of its territorial jurisdiction, it covered large parts of what is now South Asia and Southeast Asia. ''Chhutir Ghonta'' ( bn, ছুটির ঘণ্টা '' When The Bell Rang'') is a 1980 Bangladeshi drama film written and directed by Azizur Rahman. It stars Razzak, Shabana, Sujata and Sumon in the lead. It is based on the true story of a twelve-year-old school boy named Khokon in Bangladesh, who starved to death after the washroom he was in was mistakenly closed by the caretaker the day before the Muslim vacation Eid-ul-Azha started. The boy was found dead after the vacation was over. Plot The film opens up at a mental asylum. At the beginning of the day, a man starts ringing a bell which infuriates one of the patients Abbas Mia.
