Avatar Systems Corporation, later trading as Avatar Peripherals, was an American computer hardware company based in Milpitas, California, and active from 1991 to 1998. The company focused on the production of 2.5-inch cartridge hard disk drives, initially through computer system builders as an OEM and, later, directly to customers as a vendor. Dauphin Technology, Inc., often shortened to Dauphin, was an American computer and electronics company active from 1988 to 2006 and based in Illinois. The company was founded by Alan Yong and Lucy Yong in 1988 for the production of laptop computers. The company soon pivoted to the manufacture of palmtop PCs, releasing the DTR-1, a Cyrix Cx486SLC, 486SLC palmtop weighing and running Windows for Pen Computing, in 1993. PC Card is a technical standard specifying an expansion card interface for laptops and personal digital assistants, PDAs. The PCMCIA originally introduced the 16-bit Industry Standard Architecture, ISA-based PCMCIA Card in 1990, but renamed it to PC Card in March 1995 to avoid confusion with the name of the organization. The CardBus PC Card was introduced as a 32-bit version of the original PC Card, based on the Peripheral Component Interconnect, PCI specification. The EZ 135 Drive is a 3.5" removable- platter hard disk drive. It was introduced by SyQuest Technology in 1995. It had a maximum capacity of 135 MB per disk. A successor drive, known as the SyQuest EZFlyer, was released in 1996. It was backwards compatible with the EZ 135 disks, and could utilize a higher capacity 230 MB disk. The PS/2 port is a 6-pin mini-DIN connector used for connecting Computer keyboard, keyboards and computer mouse, mice to a PC compatible computer system. Its name comes from the IBM Personal System/2 series of personal computers, with which it was introduced in 1987. The PS/2 mouse connector generally replaced the older DE-9 connector, DE-9 RS-232 "serial mouse" connector, while the PS/2 keyboard connector replaced the larger 5-pin/180° DIN connector used in the IBM PC/AT design.
