The circuit was broke ground in 2020, and was opened on 15 April 2023 with the race in 2023 Turismo Carretera, it is named on behalf of Enrique Freile. El Calafate, also known as ''Calafate'', is a city in Patagonia, Argentina. TC Pista
TC Pista is a stock car racing series in Argentina, created by the Asociación Corredores de Turismo Carretera in 1995. Its purpose was to prepare pilots from regional categories who wish to compete in Turismo Carretera. It also made it possible to absorb those pilots who did not fit on the TC grid when they went from using road circuits to permanent road courses. This division has the same regulations as the major division, but differs in the preparation of its cars, these being of lower power. The Toyota Etios is a subcompact car consisting a line of four-door saloon/sedan and five-door hatchback produced by the Japanese automaker Toyota since 2010. Facundo Chapur ( Córdoba; December 2, 1993) is an Argentine motor racing driver. Career Chapur began his racing career in 2010 in the minor division (Clase 2) of Turismo Nacional (TN) championship. He won the Clase 2 title in 2012, before moving up to Clase 3 and becoming champion in his rookie season. As a factory driver for Peugeot Argentina, Chapur won his second title in TN Clase 3 in 2015. 2024 El Calafate Turismo Carretera Round
The 2024 El Calafate Turismo Carretera round (commercially titled Gran Premio Shell Helix) was a motor race for Turismo Carretera held on the weekend of 23–25 February 2024. The event was held at the Autódromo Enrique Freile in El Calafate, Argentina and consisted of four races – three 'heats' of 19 kilometres, and a 'final' of 95 kilometres. It was the opening round of fifteen in the 2024 Turismo Carretera championship. Background The event was notable as the debut of the series' five new models.
