Australia Men's National Under-19 Basketball Team
The Australia men's national under-17, under-18 and under-19 basketball team is the junior men's basketball side that represents Australia in international under-17, under-18 and under-19 youth basketball competitions. Nicknamed the Emus, the team is governed by the Australian Basketball Federation Inc. The Emus' greatest accomplishment was winning the 2003 FIBA Under-19 World Championship. Basketball Australia (BA), officially registered as BA Limited, is the governing body for basketball in Australia. Established in 1939, BA is a not-for-profit organisation responsible for overseeing basketball at all levels in Australia. The 2018 FIBA Under-18 Asian Championship was the 25th edition of the Asian Championship for Junior Men aged 18 years old and below. The 2017 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup (Arabic: 2017 كأس العالم لكرة السلة تحت 19 سنة فيبا) was the 13th edition of the FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup, the biennial international men's youth basketball championship contested by the U19 national teams of the member associations of FIBA. It was held in Cairo, Egypt from 1 to 9 July 2017. Canada won the gold medal by defeating Italy in the final match 79–60. The 2015 FIBA Under-19 World Championship (Greek: Παγκόσμιο Πρωτάθλημα FIBA Under-19 2015) was the 12th edition of the FIBA U19 World Championship, the biennial international men's youth basketball championship contested by the U19 national teams of the member associations of FIBA. It was hosted by Heraklion, Greece, from 27 June to 5 July 2015. It was the third time that Greece hosted the tournament since 1995. The 1987 FIBA Under-19 World Championship (Italian: 1987 Campionato del mondo FIBA Under 19) was the 3rd edition of the FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup, FIBA U19 World Championship. It was held in Bormio, Italy from 29 July to 5 August 1987. Yugoslavia men's national under-19 basketball team, Yugoslavia won their first and only U19 championship representing Yugoslavia, after beating the defending champions United States men's national under-19 basketball team, United States 86–76 in the final. Toni Kukoč was named the FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup Most Valuable Player, tournament MVP.
