Aurel Dragoș Munteanu
Aurel Dragoș Munteanu (16 January 1942 – 30 May 2005) was a Romanian author and the director of TVR following the Romanian Revolution of 1989, making him a key part of the National Salvation Front's ability to gain support. He was born in Lăpușna, at the time in Lăpușna County, Kingdom of Romania, now in Hîncești District, Moldova. A few years later, he took refuge with his family in Transylvania, where he attended high school in Turda, and then the Faculty of Philology of the University of Cluj. Upon graduation, he became an assistant at the Pedagogical Institute in Oradea. He debuted with a volume of short stories, then moved to Bucharest, where he published the novels ''Singuri'' (1968), ''Scarabeul Sacru'' (1970), ''Marile Iubiri'' (1978), and a book of essays. Securitate
The Department of State Security (), commonly known as the Securitate (, ), was the secret police agency of the Socialist Republic of Romania. It was founded on 30 August 1948 from the '' Siguranța'' with help and direction from the Soviet MGB. The Securitate was, in proportion to Romania's population, one of the largest secret police forces in the Eastern bloc. The first budget of the Securitate in 1948 stipulated a number of 4,641 positions, of which 3,549 were filled by February 1949: 64% were workers, 4% peasants, 28% clerks, 2% persons of unspecified origin, and 2% intellectuals. Ana Blandiana
Ana Blandiana (; pen name of Otilia Valeria Coman; born 25 March 1942) is a Romanian poet, essayist, and political figure. She took her name after Blandiana, near Vințu de Jos, Alba County, her mother's home village. In October 2017, she was announced as The Griffin Trust For Excellence In Poetry's twelfth recipient of their Lifetime Recognition Award. Dan Deșliu (August 31, 1927 – September 4, 1992) was a Romanian poet. Born in Bucharest, his parents were Ștefan Deșliu, an accountant at the Bulandra Theatre company and later administrator of the Workers' Theatre, and his wife Elena (''née'' Săndulescu). He began secondary school at Matei Basarab National College (Bucharest), Matei Basarab Lyceum in his native city, followed by the Mediaș aeronautics school and the Bucharest industrial and building high school. Mircea Dinescu (; born November 11, 1950) is a Romanian poet, journalist, and editor. Biography Early life and poetry He was born in Slobozia, the son of Ștefan Dinescu, a metalworker, and Aurelia (born Badea). Dinescu studied at the Faculty of Journalism of the Ștefan Gheorghiu Academy, and was considered a gifted young poet during his youth, with several poetry volumes published. Dissidency In August 1988, Dinescu was invited by the Union of Soviet Writers in the Soviet Union and on August 25, he gave an interview to the Romanian section of the Voice of Russia. During the interview, he expressed his support for the Glasnost and Perestroika policies of the Soviet Union.
