Augustín Hambálek
Augustín Hambálek (born 16 July 1957) is a Slovak politician. He has served as a member of the National Council of Slovakia from 2012 to 2020 and again since 2021. Biography Augustín Hambálek was born on 16 July 1957 in Trnava. He studied management at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, graduating in 1981. Afterwards, he worked as an economist for city council in Trnava. In 2002 he was elected a Deputy Governor of the Trnava Region. In the 2012 Slovak parliamentary election, Hambálek was elected MP on the list of Direction – Social Democracy but refused to give up his position as the Deputy Governor of the Trnava Region. In addition to holding multiple public offices at the same time, another MP Miroslav Beblavý accused Hambálek of not disclosing his business interests and property holdings in full. The National Council of the Slovak Republic (, abbreviated to ''NR SR'') is the national parliament of Slovakia. It is unicameral and consists of 150 members, who are elected by universal suffrage under proportional representation with seats distributed via largest remainder method with Hagenbach-Bischoff quota every four years. Slovakia's parliament has been called the 'National Council' since 1 October 1992. From 1969 to 1992, its predecessor, the parliament of the Slovak part of Czechoslovakia, was called the Slovak National Council (). Ľubomír Petrák (6 August 1961 – 20 February 2021) was a Slovak politician, a member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic for SMER-SD and the mayor of Hurbanova Ves. Biography Petrák graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. Political career Ľubomír Petrák was the mayor of the small village Hurbanova Ves in the Senec District. In 2002, he became the last chairman of the Party of the Democratic Left ( SDĽ). On 4 December 2004, at the 10th Congress of the SDĽ in Banská Bystrica, the dissolution of the party was approved by merging with SMER as of 31 December 2004. 2020 Slovak Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Slovakia on 29 February 2020 to elect all 150 members of the National Council. The populist Ordinary People and Independent Personalities–NOVA–Christian Union–Change from Below (OĽaNO–NOVA–KÚ–ZZ) party emerged as the largest parliamentary group, winning 53 seats. The ruling coalition comprising Direction – Social Democracy (Smer), the Slovak National Party (SNS), and Most–Híd, led by Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini of Smer, won only 38, with both the SNS and Most–Híd losing their parliamentary representation. Trnava
Trnava (, , ; , also known by other #Names and etymology, alternative names) is a city in western Slovakia, to the northeast of Bratislava, on the Trnávka river. It is the capital of the Trnava Region and the Trnava District. It is the seat of a Roman Catholic archbishopric (1541–1820 and then again since 1977). The city has a historic center. Miroslav Beblavý (born 6 January 1977 in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak investor, startup founder, economist, author and former politician. He is currently CEO oCB ESPRI an impact investment fund, CEO oZhiva a behavioral health startup, and adjunct professor at Sciences Po in Paris and Hertie School in Berlin. Between 2010 and 2020, he served three terms as an MP of the National Council of Slovakia. Between 2002 and 2006, he held the post of state secretary at the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family.
