Große Aue
The Große Aue (in its upper reaches known as the ''Aue'' and then also the ''Neuer Mühlenbach'' or ''Mühlbach'') is an , southwestern, left tributary of the River Weser in northern North Rhine-Westphalia and central Lower Saxony in Germany. Course The Große Aue rises at a height of as the ''Aue'' on the southern side of the Wiehen Hills in the village of Dono in the parish of Rödinghausen in North Rhine-Westphalia. After one and a half kilometres it turns north and from its confluence with the Nordbach, which joins it from the west at Schwenningdorf, is known as the ''Große Aue''. It crosses a water gap in the Wiehen Hills, losing 40 metres of height and powering two mills, so that in the section through the Wiehen crest it has been named the ''Neuer Mühlbach'' ("New Mill Stream") after the ''Neue Mühle'' ("New Mill") at Schwenningdorf. Oberst Paul Aue was a World War I flying ace from the Kingdom of Saxony in the German Empire. Partial records of his early aviation career credit him with 10 aerial victories. He would join the nascent ''Luftwaffe'' during the 1930s and serve Germany through World War II. He died in a Soviet prison camp in 1945. Mary Puatuki Aue is a Niuean–New Zealand STEM advocate, social media specialist and Pacific and Māori leader. In 1999 Aue launched the Coconut Wireless community newsletter, which later relaunched as a social media platform, and she also founded the South Auckland STEM group to encourage Pacific and Māori children into technology. Hartmann von Aue, also known as Hartmann von Ouwe, (born ''c.'' 1160–70, died ''c.'' 1210–20) was a German knight and poet. With his works including '' Erec'', '' Iwein'', '' Gregorius'', and '' Der arme Heinrich'', he introduced the Arthurian romance into German literature and, with Wolfram von Eschenbach and Gottfried von Strassburg, was one of the three great epic poets of Middle High German literature. Life Hartmann belonged to the lower nobility of Swabia, where he was born. After receiving a monastic education, he became retainer (''Dienstmann'') of a nobleman whose domain, Aue, has been identified with Obernau on the River Neckar. He also took part in the Crusade of 1197. Becky Manawatu (born 1982) is a New Zealand writer. In 2020, she won two Ockham New Zealand Book Awards for her first novel, ''Auē'' and Best Crime Novel at the 2020 Ngaio Marsh Awards. Biography Manawatu was born Becky Wixon in June 1982 in Nelson, New Zealand, and raised in Waimangaroa on the West Coast of the South Island, 15 minutes from Westport, attending Waimangaroa Primary School. She met her husband Tim while at Buller High School and has two children, Siena and Maddox. Manawatu left home at age 18 years to accompany her husband's career as a professional rugby player and coach in Italy and Frankfurt, Germany. The Aue ( or ''Aue Bach'') is a meandering stream in Lower Saxony, Germany. The Aue source is near Waake. It enters the Seeburger See near Seeburg and drains it at Bernshausen. A mere creek, it is not navigable. It is a left (west) tributary of the Suhle in , part of Rollshausen. The elevation at the mouth is about 157 m asl. The Aue is a left, southwestern, tributary of the Oste in northern Lower Saxony, Germany. It is about long. Geography Before the construction of the the Aue was the natural outlet of the lake in the southwest part of the parish of Wingst on the southern edge of the collective municipality of Am Dobrock. The Balksee is, in turn, fed by several streams. The Aue today no longer has any direct link with the Balksee and rises on its northern edge. The Aue, as a former sea creek, has no natural gradient. The water level is artificially held below sea level by dyke sluices and a pumping station.
