Athletics At The 2020 Summer Paralympics – Qualification
Athletics at the 2020 Summer Paralympics were to be held at the Japan National Stadium (2019), Tokyo National Stadium between 25 August and 6 September. Following the COVID-19 pandemic they have been rescheduled to between 24 August and 5 September 2021. Timeline As of March 2021. Qualification Allocations of qualification slots are awarded to the individual athlete, not to the National Paralympic Committee, NPC. * Maximum number of slots awarded to an NPC is 45 male qualification slots and 35 female qualification slots (80 total slots). Para-athletics, Athletics at the 2020 Summer Paralympics were held in the Japan National Stadium (2019), National Stadium in Tokyo. There was 167 medal events: 93 for men, 73 for women and one mixed event. It was the largest contest of the Games programme regarding athlete numbers and medal events to be scheduled. The 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They kept the 2020 name and were instead held from 24 August to 5 September 2021. David Brown (athlete)
David Brown (born October 19, 1992) is a visually impaired American sprint runner. He competed over 100–400 m distances at the 2012 and 2016 Paralympics and 2013 and 2015 world championships and won the 100 m event in 2015 and 2016. He currently holds the world record in the 200 m run for the T11 class and previously held world and Paralympic records for the 100 m run (T11), being the first totally blind athlete to run within 11 seconds. Biography He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Francine Brown, and has an elder sister named Breana. At the age of 15 months, he was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, which led to glaucoma and complete blindness by the age of 13. Gerard Descarrega Puigdevall (born 2 May 1994 in La Selva del Camp, Tarragona) is a Paralympic athlete from Spain competing mainly in category T11. Ananias Shikongo
Ananias Shikongo (born 25 April 1986) is a Paralympian athlete from Namibia competing mainly in category T11 short-distance events. He was born in 1986 and lives in Windhoek, Namibia. Among his achievements is a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. Career Shikongo is Africa’s sprint champion in 100m and 200m in T11 (classification). He grew up in Okankolo Constituency, Oshikoto Region, in a village in proximity to the Angolan border. He lost his eyesight in both eyes in two separate incidents during his childhood.
