Associação Cultural e Desportiva Potiguar, commonly known as Potiguar or as Potiguar de Mossoró, are a Brazilian football team from Mossoró. They won the Campeonato Potiguar once and competed in the Série A twice. Potiguar is currently ranked fourth among Rio Grande do Norte teams in CBF's national club ranking at 157th place overall. They are the best placed team in the state from outside of Greater Natal. History They were founded on 11 February 1945, as Esporte Clube Potuguar by a group of sportsmen. Cícero Ramalho
Cícero Ramalho (born 20 November 1964), is a Brazilian former professional footballer, who played as a forward. Career Cícero Ramalho began his career at Potiguar de Mossoró, and later played for Quixadá, when he was the top scorer in the 1988 state championship. He had spells at Ceará and Ferroviário, but soon moved to Real Murcia. While playing for Real Murcia, Ramalho ended up ingesting a suppository orally, which caused serious gastroenteritis that almost resulted in death. He also played in Spain for Levante and Sabadell, before returning to Ferroviário in 1994, where he became state champion. In 2005 he gained national recognition by being the best on the field for Baraúnas, who eliminated Vasco da Gama in the Copa do Brasil. The Copa Rio Grande do Norte was the association football state cup of Rio Grande do Norte, organized by the Federação Norte-rio-grandense de Futebol (FNF), in order to decide one of the representatives of the state at the Copa do Brasil. América Futebol Clube, commonly referred to as simply América Mineiro, is a Brazilian football team from the city of Belo Horizonte, capital city of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Estádio Leonardo Nogueira, usually known as Nogueirão, is a multi-use stadium located in Mossoró, Brazil. It is used mostly for football matches and hosts the home matches of the two most important teams of the city Associação Cultural Esporte Clube Baraúnas and Potiguar de Mossoró. The stadium has a maximum capacity of 25,000 people and was built in 1967. Nogueirão is owned by the Liga Desportiva Mossoroense (Mossoró City Sporting League). The stadium is named after Manoel Leonardo Nogueira, who was the president of the city's Liga Municipal de Esportes (Municipality's Sport League) and was responsible for the stadium's construction.
