Aslan (artist)
Aslan (born Alain Gourdon; 23 May 1930 in Bordeaux, France – 11 February 2014 in Sainte-Adèle, Quebec, Canada) was a French painter, sculptor and pin-up artist. He is mostly known in France for his pin ups. He contributed to ''Lui'' from the creation of the magazine in 1964 to the early eighties, providing a monthly pin up. Aslan was a French Postwar & Contemporary artist. He is the sculptor of Dalida's funerary statue on her tomb from 1987, and her bronze bust that was erected on Place Dalida in 1997. He also sculpted the Fifth Republic Marianne as Brigitte Bardot in 1970, followed by the Mireille Mathieu Mireille Mathieu (; born July 22, 1946) is a French singer. A pin-up model is a model (person), model whose mass-produced pictures and photographs have wide appeal within the popular culture of a society. Pin-up models are usually glamour photography, glamour, actresses, or fashion models whose pictures are intended for informal and aesthetic display, known for being pinned onto a wall. Mireille Mathieu (; born July 22, 1946) is a French singer. She has recorded over 1,200 songs in eleven languages, with more than 122 million records sold worldwide. Biography and career Early years Mireille Mathieu was born on July 22, 1946, in Avignon, France, as the eldest daughter in a family of fourteen children; the youngest brother was born after she moved to Paris. Her father, Roger, and his family were natives of Avignon, while her mother, Marcelle-Sophie (née Poirier), was from Dunkirk. Marcelle arrived in Avignon in 1944 as a refugee from World War II after her grandmother had died and her mother went missing.
