Ashford, South Australia
Ashford is an inner southwestern suburb of Adelaide, in the City of West Torrens. It is triangular in shape and bordered by South Road (west), Anzac Highway (southeast) and Everard Avenue (north). Electoral District Of Badcoe
Badcoe is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It was created by the redistribution conducted in 2016, and was contested for the first time at the 2018 state election. Badcoe lies south-west of the Adelaide city centre and includes the suburbs of , , , , , , , , , , , , and parts of and . At its creation, Badcoe was projected to be notionally held by the Labor Party with a swing of 4.2% required to lose it. Badcoe is named after Peter John Badcoe (1934–1967) who grew up in Adelaide before joining the Australian Army in 1952. He served in artillery and infantry and was killed in the Vietnam War. Badcoe was created as a replacement for Ashford, which was abolished at the 2018 state election. Ashford House
Ashford House, located in the Adelaide suburb of Ashford, South Australia, was originally built in 1838 by Dr Charles Everard, and is amongst the oldest historic buildings in South Australia. The house has Local Heritage listing status with the City of West Torrens. On 19 November 2019, the City of West Torrens voted and resolved to seek State Heritage listing by the SA Heritage Council. History The current building was completed in 1882. At the rear of the house are the remains of an old gum tree, which is of historical significance as it was in place when Dr Everard arrived in 1836. Usage In 1952 The Crippled Children’s Association of South Australia purchased Ashford House. Since 1976 the house has been operated by the Department of Education and Children Development and currently forms part of the Errington Special Education Centre. Harry Nielsen (cricketer)
Harry Nielsen (born 3 May 1995) is an Australian cricketer, the son of former South Australian cricketer Tim Nielsen. During the 2017–18 season, he made his debut in all three major forms of the game, first-class, one-day and Twenty20 cricket playing for Cricket Australia XI in the JLT One-Day Cup and tour matches, the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League and South Australia in the Sheffield Shield. Louis Joseph D'Arrigo (born 23 September 2001), is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Adelaide United. He is of Maltese descent. Nyuk Lian "Leanne" Choo (born 5 June 1991) is a badminton player from Australia. She is the reigning Oceania Champion in women's and mixed doubles. Emma Kay Checker (born 11 March 1996) is an Australian soccer player who plays as a defender for Umeå IK. She has represented Australia at under-17, under-20 and senior levels. Nicholas John Benton (born 29 June 1991) is an Australian cricketer. He made his List A debut for South Australia in the 2016–17 Matador BBQs One-Day Cup on 2 October 2016. Career Born in Ashford, a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, Benton made his first-class debut for South Australia in the final match of the 2014–15 Sheffield Shield season, taking four wickets and scoring 33 not out against Queensland. Victoria Balomenos (born 14 February 1988 in Ashford, South Australia) is an Australian soccer player who played for Australian W-League teams Adelaide United and Sydney FC. Balomenos played nine times for the Australia women's national soccer team. Club career Adelaide United Balomenos sat out the second season of the W-League due to a knee re-construction. Ashford, Kent
Ashford is a town in the county of Kent, England. It lies on the River Great Stour at the southern or scarp edge of the North Downs, about southeast of central London and northwest of Folkestone by road. In the 2011 census, it had a population of 74,204. The name comes from the Old English ''æscet'', indicating a ford near a clump of ash trees.
