''Arya'' is a 2004 Indian Telugu-language romantic action film written and directed by Sukumar in his directoral debut. Produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations banner, the film stars Allu Arjun, Anu Mehta, and Siva Balaji. The music was composed by Devi Sri Prasad and cinematography was by R. Rathnavelu. The plot revolves around Arya, an outgoing and free-spirited boy falling in love with Geetha, an introverted girl who is on the shield of another person Ajay. ''Arya'' was released on 7 May 2004, the film received positive response and was commercially successful, grossing worldwide. It has developed a cult following over the years. A dubbed version in Malayalam was released in 2006. The film was remade in Bengali (Bangladesh) as ''Badha'' (2005), in Odia as '' Pagala Premi'' (2007) in Sinhala as '' Adaraye Namayen'' (2008) and in Tamil as '' Kutty'' (2010). Sukumar (director)
Bandreddi Sukumar is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer who works in Telugu cinema. He is known for his intricate screenplays and for depicting protagonists with grey shades. He is the third highest-grossing Indian film director of all time and is one of the highest-paid directors in Indian cinema. Before entering the film industry, Sukumar worked as a mathematics and physics lecturer at a junior college in Kakinada for nearly seven years. ''Kutty'' () is a 2010 Indian Tamil-language romantic action-drama film directed by Mithran Jawahar, who with the project, recombines with the lead actor following the success of their previous venture. The film stars Dhanush, Shriya Saran and Dhyan (in his only Tamil film) with Radha Ravi playing a pivotal role. The film, a remake of the Telugu film ''Arya'' (2004), has Gemini Film Circuit as the producers, whilst Devi Sri Prasad handled the music composition. The film, which was under production for a year, was released on 14 January 2010 coinciding with the Tamil festival of Thai Pongal.
