The florin (; abbreviation: Afl.; ISO 4217, code: AWG) or Aruban guilder is the currency of Aruba. It is subdivided into 100 cents. The florin was introduced in 1986, replacing the Netherlands Antillean guilder at par. The Aruba currency exchange rate for U.S. dollars is Afl. 1.77 for cash and Afl. 1.78 for traveller's checks. Most supermarkets and gas stations use the exchange rate of Afl. 1.75, while many restaurants and shops use the exchange rate of Afl. 1.80. Juan Alfonso Boekhoudt (; born 27 January 1965) is an Aruban politician who has been serving as the 4th governor of Aruba since 2017. He previously served as minister plenipotentiary from 14 November 2013 to 17 November 2016. Biography Boekhoudt was born on Aruba on 27 January 1965. Between 1991 and 1994, he worked in the cabinet of the minister plenipotentiary of Aruba. From 1994 to 2005 he worked as financial manager and director in the private sector. He served as director of the Aruba Ports Authority between 2005 and 2013. He also served as the chairman of the Aruba Red Cross between October 2010 and November 2013. Michiel Godfried "Mike" Eman (born 1 September 1961) is an Aruba, Aruban politician currently serving as the 5th Prime Minister of Aruba. He previously served as the 3rd Prime Minister from 2009 to 2017 His political career began in 2001, but Eman has been involved in politics in one way or another since his childhood. Papiamento () or Papiamentu (; ) is a Portuguese-based creole language spoken in the Dutch Caribbean. It is the most widely spoken language on Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao ( ABC Islands).
