Roatán () is an island in the Caribbean, about off the northern coast of Honduras. The largest of the Bay Islands Department, Bay Islands of Honduras, it is located between the islands of Utila and Guanaja. It is approximately long, and less than across at its widest point. The island consists of two Municipalities of Honduras, municipalities: José Santos Guardiola, Bay Islands, José Santos Guardiola in the east and Roatán, including the Cayos Cochinos, in the west. The island was formerly known in English as Ruatan and Rattan. Geography Roatán is a coral island. Situated atop an exposed ancient coral reef, it rises to about above sea level. Ninrol Edgardo Medina Torres (born 26 August 1976) is a Honduran retired football defender. He is current manager of Honduran Segunda Division side Arsenal de Roatán. Club career Medina came through the youth ranks at F.C. Motagua and first moved abroad to play in Mexico for Tigrillos Saltillo. He returned to Motagua after a year, but then again crossed the border to play in Costa Rica, where he played for Deportivo Saprissa alongside compatriot Amado Guevara, and another three years in Mexico. Liga de Ascenso (Promotion League) is the Honduran football league system, second division of Honduran association football, football; it was founded on 17 December 1979 as ''Segunda División'' (Second Division) and renamed ''Liga de Ascenso'' (Promotion League) on 21 July 2002. The league is divided into 4 groups: ''Zona Norte y Atlántica'' (North and Atlantic Zone), ''Zona Norte y Occidente'' (North and West Zone), ''Zona Centro y Sur'' (Central and South Zone), ''Zona Sur y Oriente'' (South and East Zone). Deportes Savio Fútbol Club, commonly known as Deportes Savio, is a professional Honduran football club based in Santa Rosa de Copán. The club was founded in 1974, and participates in the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras. In 2006–07 they achieved the promotion to the top league of the Honduran League. Georgie Wilson Welcome Collins (born 9 March 1985) is a Honduran professional footballer who plays as a striker for Parrillas One. Welcome is the only player to debut with the national side playing in the second level of Honduras. Club career Welcome started his career at Arsenal FC (Roatan) and was snapped up by Honduran giant F.C. Motagua in 2008.
