The oldest attestation of the name is from a runestone in Vagnhärad dating to the 11th century. Arne Carlson
Arne Helge Carlson (born September 24, 1934) is an American politician who served from 1991 to 1999 as the 37th governor of Minnesota. Carlson is considered a liberal Republican. Before his governorship, he served as the Minnesota State Auditor from 1979 to 1991. Born into poverty in New York City, he attended the Choate Rosemary Hall preparatory school on a scholarship. After graduating from Williams College, he went to graduate school at the University of Minnesota. In his first race for elected office, Carlson was elected to the Minneapolis City Council in 1965 as a Republican. He served until 1967. With the Republicans in the majority, Carlson also served as city council majority leader. In 1967, he ran for mayor of Minneapolis against incumbent Democratic mayor Arthur Naftalin. Arne Ludvig Grundt Ileby (2 December 1913 – 25 December 1999) was a Norwegian footballer. He played his entire senior career as a forward for Fredrikstad FK, with which he won four Norwegian Football Cup titles (1935, 1936, 1938, and 1940) and two Norwegian Premier League titles ( 1937–38 and 1938–39). Arne Gauslaa (8 February 1913 – 30 October 1942) was a Norwegian communist, newspaper editor and resistance member. Biography He was born in Solum, to a mother from Solum and a father from Herefoss. His father Olav Gauslaa was a member of Solum municipal council from 1910 to 1927 and again from 1931, and had joined the Communist Party in 1923. Arne Gauslaa married Audhild Olsen from Skien in 1932, and had one foster child. The family lived in Oslo. In 1931 Gauslaa was sentenced in court twice. The first time he was sentenced to prison for participating in the Skirmish of Menstad, then for making the small newspaper ''Den røde elev'' at his school. Arne Garborg
Arne Garborg (born Aadne Eivindsson Garborg) (25 January 1851 – 14 January 1924) was a Norwegian writer. Garborg championed the use of Landsmål (now known as Nynorsk, or New Norwegian), as a literary language; he translated the Odyssey into it. He founded the weekly '' Fedraheimen'' in 1877, in which he urged reforms in many spheres including political, social, religious, agrarian, and linguistic. He was married to Hulda Garborg. Arne Friedrich (born 29 May 1979) is a German football executive and former player who played as a defender. He formerly was the sporting director of Hertha BSC. He played 82 times for the Germany national team. Friedrich was a very versatile player, playing full-back, centre-back and occasionally a midfield position. Arne Elsholtz (14 August 1944 – 26 April 2016) was a German voice actor and dialogue director. He was one of the most well-known dubbing actors in Germany and he was also responsible for directing the German dubs of some international productions. Sven Arne Domnérus (20 December 1924 – 2 September 2008) was a Swedish jazz saxophonist and clarinetist. Career He began to play the clarinet at the age of 11 but had taken up the saxophone by the time he left school and then turned professional. In 1949 he performed at the Paris Jazz Festival and with Charlie Parker when Parker was on tour in Sweden in 1950. A few years later he recorded with Clifford Brown, Art Farmer, and James Moody.
