Armășești
Armășești is a commune located in Ialomița County, Muntenia, Romania. It is composed of three villages: Armășești, Malu Roșu, and Nenișori. Bărbulești was also one of its component villages until 2006, when it was split off to form a separate commune. Geography Armășești is situated at the western edge of the Bărăgan Plain, on the banks of the Sărata River and its right tributary, the river Toți. It is located in the northwestern part of Ialomița County, from the city of Urziceni and from the county seat, Slobozia. The national capital, Bucharest, is about to the southwest, while the city of Ploiești is to the northwest. The commune is crossed by national road , which connects Urziceni to Ploiești. Ialomița County
Ialomița County () is a county () of Romania, in Muntenia, with the capital city at Slobozia. Demographics In 2011, the county had a population of 258,669 and the population density was 58.08/km2. Romanians make up 95.6% of the population, the largest minority being the Romani people (4.1%). Geography Ialomița County has a total area of . The county is situated in the Bărăgan Plain. The area is flat crossed by small rivers with small but deep valleys. Its eastern border is on the Danube. The Ialomița (river), Ialomița River crosses the county from West to East about the middle. The Danube is split around the Ialomița Pond into the Old Danube branch and the Borcea branch. Bărbulești is a commune located in Ialomița County, Muntenia, Romania. It is composed of a single village, Bărbulești, which was part of Armășești commune until being split off as a separate entity in 2006. Geography The commune is situated at the western edge of the Bărăgan Plain, at an altitude of . It is located just west of the city of Urziceni, on the banks of the Sărata River. Bărbulești is crossed by national road , which connects Urziceni with Ploiești. The Bărbulești halt serves the CFR Main Line 700, which connects Bucharest to Brăila, Galați and the border with Moldova at Giurgiulești, as well as Line 701, which starts in Urziceni and ends in Ploiești. Giurgiulești () is a commune in the Cahul District of Moldova. It is also a border crossing point to Romania, located from Galați. Geography The locality is in the southernmost point of Moldova, at the confluence of the river Prut with the Danube, on the border with Romania and Ukraine. The commune consists of one village, Giurgiulești. Economy Moldova has access to the Danube for only about . The Port of Giurgiulești is the only Moldovan port on the Danube. The building of an oil terminal started there in 1996, and was finished in 2006. As of 2015 there were no facilities in Giurgiulești for travellers or visiting crew members.
