Arkansas Razorbacks Gymnastics
The Arkansas Razorbacks gymnastics team represents the University of Arkansas and competes in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The team was founded in 2003 and is currently coached by Jordyn Wieber, after she assumed the position in April 2019. History The gymnastics team was founded in 2003 by Mark Cook, who started building the team in 2001. Cook had previously coached the Stanford Cardinal, Stanford gymnastics and UCLA Bruins gymnastics, UCLA Bruins teams, as the head coach and assistant coach respectively. The first team competed in the 2003, with an all-freshman roster, and finished the regular season ranked 41st. All-America
The All-America designation is an annual honor bestowed on outstanding athletes in the United States who are considered to be among the best athletes in their respective sport. Individuals receiving this distinction are typically added to an All-America team for their sport. Some sports have multiple All-America teams, and list the honorees as members of a first team, second team, or third team. All-America teams are composed of outstanding U.S. amateur athletes. Individuals falling short of qualifying for the honor may receive All-America honorable mention. The designation is typically used at the collegiate level, although, beginning in 1957, high school athletes in football began being honored with All-American status, which then carried over to other sports like basketball and cross-country running. Gymnastics At The 2024 Summer Olympics
Gymnastics competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris were contested in three categories: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining. The artistic (27 July to 5 August) and trampoline (2 August) events occurred at the Accor Arena (referred to as the Bercy Arena due to IOC sponsorship rules), with the rhythmic events staged at Adidas Arena, Porte de La Chapelle Arena from 8 to 10 August. Qualification The qualification pathway for the 2024 Summer Olympics is significantly simplified and modified from those in 2020. In the artistic team event, a maximum of five gymnasts will be eligible to participate as opposed to the four per team and two individuals who competed in 2020 Summer Olympics, Tokyo 2020. The Arkansas Razorbacks, also known as the Hogs, are the College athletics in the United States, intercollegiate athletics teams representing the University of Arkansas, located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Fayetteville. The University of Arkansas student body voted to change the name of the school mascot (originally the Cardinals) in 1910 to the Arkansas Razorbacks after a hard-fought battle against LSU Tigers and Lady Tigers, LSU in which they were said to play like a "wild band of Feral pig, Razorback hogs" by former coach Hugo Bezdek. Kyla Briana Ross Rittman ( Ross, born October 24, 1996) is an American retired artistic gymnast and current assistant coach for the Arkansas Razorbacks gymnastics team. She is the first female gymnast to win NCAA, World, and Olympic championship titles. Ross was an international elite gymnast from 2009 to 2016. During her junior elite career, she won two national all-around titles (2009, 2010) and the 2010 Pan American Gymnastics Championships, 2010 Pan American all-around title. Chris Brooks (gymnast)
Christopher Dean Brooks (born December 19, 1986, in Houston, Texas) is a retired American gymnast who represented the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. He is now assistant coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks NCAA gymnastics team. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and won four gold medals at the 2012 Pacific Rim Championships. He has trained alongside Olympic and World Championships medalist Jonathan Horton as a junior, college, and senior elite gymnast. On August 17, 2017, he announced his retirement from artistic gymnastics. Joscelyn Roberson
Joscelyn Michelle Roberson (born February 8, 2006) is an American artistic gymnast and member of the USA national gymnastics team. She was a member of the gold medal winning team at the 2023 World Championships. Early life Roberson was born to Jeffrey and Ashley Roberson in 2006 in Texarkana, Texas. Gymnastics career 2021 Roberson competed at the 2021 Winter Cup where she placed second behind Ella Kate Parker in the all-around, first on balance beam, and third on floor exercise in the junior division. The 2014 NCAA women's gymnastics tournament was the 39th NCAA women's gymnastics tournament, the annual women's gymnastics championship contested by the teams of the member associations of NCAA. Katherine Grable
Katherine Grable is an American gymnast. Competing as a gymnast for the Arkansas Razorbacks, Grable capped off her career by winning both the Vault and the Floor at the 2014 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships, also attaining second in the All-Around. She won on Floor with a score of 9.9625, while her score of 9.975 on Vault (tied with Rheagan Courville) was the highest in the history of the NCAA championships for that event. 2014 was Katherine's fourth trip to the NCAA Event Finals – and also the last meet of her college gymnastics career. The 2024 NCAA women's gymnastics tournament was the 41st NCAA women's gymnastics tournament, the annual women's gymnastics championship contested by the teams of the member associations of NCAA. The first and second round and regional final were hosted on campuses from April 3 to April 7, 2024, while the semi-final and final were held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas from April 18 to April 20, 2024.
