Arkadiusz Gołaś
Arkadiusz Gołaś (10 May 1981 – 16 September 2005) was a Polish volleyball player, member of the Poland men's national volleyball team in 2001–2005, participant of the Olympic Games (2004 Summer Olympics, Athens 2004). Personal life He married Agnieszka (née Dziewońska) on July 21, 2005. His best man was another volleyball player, his best friend Krzysztof Ignaczak. On September 16, 2005, Arkadiusz died in Griffen, Austria near Klagenfurt in Austria on the A2 motorway when the car he was riding in struck a concrete wall. His wife, Agnieszka, who was driving, survived. They were on their way to Macerata, where Arkadiusz was due to begin playing his first season at the club Lube Banca Macerata. His last match with the Polish national team was on September 8, 2005, when Poland men's national volleyball team, Poland beat Portugal men's national volleyball team, Portugal (3–0). Przasnysz
Przasnysz () is a town in north-central Poland. Located in the Masovian Voivodship, about north of Warsaw and about south of Olsztyn, it is the capital of Przasnysz County. Mariusz Łukasz Wlazły (born 4 August 1983) is a Polish former professional volleyball player. He was a member of the Poland men's national volleyball team, Poland national team from 2005 to 2014, a participant in the Olympic Games 2008 Summer Olympics, Beijing 2008 and the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship, 2014 World Champion. Wlazły spent most of his career in Skra Bełchatów, the club with which he won 9 league titles and multiple medals in international competitions. Sebastian Świderski
Sebastian Krzysztof Świderski (born 26 June 1977) is a Polish former professional volleyball player and coach. He was a member of the Poland men's national volleyball team, Poland national team from 1996 to 2011, a participant in the Olympic Games (2004 Summer Olympics, Athens 2004, 2008 Summer Olympics, Beijing 2008), and a silver medallist at the 2006 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship, 2006 World Championship. Since 2021, Świderski has been president of the Polish Volleyball Federation. Career as player Club Świderski's first club as a player was Znicz Gorzów Wielkopolski. Then, he played for Stilon Gorzów Wielkopolski, with whom he won bronze and silver medals of the Polish Championship and Polish Cup in 1997. Lech Kaczyński
Lech Aleksander Kaczyński (; 18 June 194910 April 2010) was a Polish politician who served as the city mayor of Warsaw from 2002 until 2005, and as President of Poland from 2005 until his death in 2010 in an air crash. The aircraft carrying him and senior Polish officials had crashed while they were travelling to attend ceremonies marking the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre. 2006 FIVB Men's World Championship
The 2006 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship was held in Japan from 17 November to 3 December 2006. Like the previous edition, 24 teams participated in the tournament. Brazil won the Tournament (retaining their championship title), defeating Poland 3:0 in the final match. Bulgaria placed 3rd, defeating Serbia and Montenegro 3:1 in the 3rd place match. The Polish team dedicated this achievement to the deceased Polish volleyball player Arkadiusz Gołaś. The team honored him at the award ceremony, when they wore T-shirts with the number 16 and the words "Golas". Host Finals hosts Japan. The tournament was held in six Japan cities.
