Area code 952 is the telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for the southwestern suburbs of Minneapolis-St. Paul in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The numbering plan area (NPA) includes cities such as Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Edina and Minnetonka. It was created in 2000 along with area code 763 (northwest suburbs) when they were carved out of area code 612, which now only contains Minneapolis and a few inner-ring locales. The area code splits in the Twin Cities are unusual because they split along municipal lines, rather than central office boundaries. This led to numerous exchanges being divided between two area codes. One central office, the Penn Avenue office in Minneapolis, had its geographical territory divided into area code 612 for portions in Minneapolis; 763 for portions in Golden Valley; and 952 for portions in St. Louis Park. Area codes 507 and 924 are telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan for the southern fifth of Minnesota, including cities such as Rochester, Mankato, Worthington, Fairmont, Albert Lea, Northfield, and Austin. The original area code, 507, was the third area code created for use in the state in 1954, following the original 218 and 612. It was created from the southwestern portion of 218 and the southern portion of 612. It was overlaid with area code 924 in 2024. It is the first area code overlay complex in Minnesota. The region was directly bordered by 612 (to the north) until that area code was divided in the 1990s. The western half of 507 bordered area code 320 starting in 1996, and then later came to border also area code 651 (1998) and area code 952 (2000). Excelsior ( ) is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. A western suburb of the Twin Cities, Excelsior is about southwest of downtown Minneapolis. Its population was 2,414 as of the 2020 census. Elko New Market is a city in Scott County, Minnesota, United States. It was founded in 2006 through a merging of bordering cities Elko and New Market. The population was 4,846 at the 2020 census. Served by Interstate 35 and Scott County Road 2, the city contains one public school, and is notable as the location of Elko Speedway. The New Market Hotel and Store is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The city contains a marker for the Big Woods of south–central Minnesota. Belle Plaine, Minnesota
Belle Plaine ( ) is a city in Scott County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 7,395 at the 2020 census. History Minnesota Territorial Supreme Court Judge Andrew G. Chatfield selected the townsite of Belle Plaine in 1853 while traveling from Mendota to Traverse des Sioux to hold court, as it was a halfway marker on his usual path of travel. Chatfield chose to name the townsite ''Belle Plaine'', which is French for "Beautiful Prairie." From 1868 to 1974, Belle Plaine was incorporated as a borough, the only one in Minnesota. In 1974, it became a city.
