Archive Cardiacs
''Archive Cardiacs'' (or simply ''Archive'') is a compilation album by English rock band Cardiacs. The album is composed of early tracks by the band recorded from 1977 to 1979. The tracks were compiled from Cardiacs' demo albums '' The Obvious Identity'' (1980) and ''Toy World'' (1981), as well as four pieces recorded by Tim Smith and Dominic Luckman for a side project that never saw fruition. The album was originally released on cassette in 1989 exclusively available to the Cardiacs Yousletter Family and was reissued on CD in 1995. Cardiacs
Cardiacs are an English Rock music, rock band formed in Kingston upon Thames by Tim Smith (Cardiacs), Tim Smith (guitar and lead vocals) and his brother Jim Smith (bassist), Jim (bass, backing vocals) in 1977 under the name Cardiac Arrest. One of Britain's leading Cult following#Music, cult rock bands, Cardiacs' sound folded in genres including art rock, progressive rock, art punk, post-punk, jazz, Psychedelic music, psychedelia and Heavy metal music, heavy metal (as well as elements of Circus music, circus, baroque pop, medieval music, nursery rhymes and Sea shanty, sea shanties), all of which was topped by Smith's anarchic vocals and hard-to-decipher lyrics. The Official Aotearoa Music Charts, formerly the Official New Zealand Music Chart (), is the weekly New Zealand top 40 singles and albums charts, issued weekly by Recorded Music NZ (formerly Recording Industry Association of New Zealand). The Music Chart also includes the top 40 Hot Singles chart, the top 20 New Zealand artist singles and albums, the top 20 Hot New Zealand singles, and top 10 compilation albums. All charts are compiled from data of both physical and digital sales from music retailers in New Zealand. The chart also publishes gold and platinum certifications of albums and singles, according to thresholds set by Recorded Music NZ, through the dababase on radioscope.net.nz. Streaming media refers to multimedia delivered through a Computer network, network for playback using a Media player (other), media player. The Sound (band)
The Sound were an English post-punk band, formed in South London in 1979 and dissolved in 1988. They were fronted by Adrian Borland, and evolved from his previous band, the Outsiders. While never commercially successful, the Sound have long been championed by critics. Background Beginnings The Sound were formed in South London in 1979 from the remnants of the punk band the Outsiders. The original lineup of the Sound consisted of Adrian Borland (vocals, guitar) and Graham Bailey (bass guitar), both ex-Outsiders, along with Mike Dudley (drums) and woodwinds player Bi Marshall (born Benita Biltoo). While not a member, ex-Outsider Adrian Janes would contribute ideas and co-write lyrics to the Sound's music. Jim Smith (bassist)
James A. Smith (born 14 April 1958) is an English musician, best known as the bassist for the rock band Cardiacs which he formed with his brother Tim Smith (Cardiacs), Tim Smith, the band's frontman and leader. Jim is highly regarded for his distinctive bass playing. Smith grew up in Chessington, Surrey, purchasing a bass in 1972. He co-founded the band that would become Cardiacs, Cardiac Arrest, in 1977 on bass and backing vocals, though he allegedly couldn't play an instrument. Smith played on every Cardiacs release and, along with Tim, was the only constant member in the band's regularly changing List of Cardiacs band members#Lineups, lineup. He became popular and was often bullied by his brother on stage during Cardiacs performances, with the band purportedly formed to punish him for the unkind things he would do to Tim as an infant.
