Araçatuba
Araçatuba is a city located in the northwest of São Paulo state, Brazil. The city has 198,129 inhabitants (IBGE/2020) and spans . The city name comes from the Tupi language and means "abundance of araçá" (a fruit, Psidium cattleianum). Araçatuba is located from São Paulo. Its origins date back to the coffee boom and, at the turn of the century, its economy was characterized by the growth of sugarcane plantations. This scenario also includes livestock farming, an activity that made it known in the country as the Capital of Fat Cattle due to the negotiations of the arroba of cattle held in Praça Rui Barbosa, in addition to the inclusion of other animal breeding activities such as sheep farming. With a diversified economy, the service sector is the predominant one in the city. Araçatuba is also characterized by being a university hub in the northwest region of the state of São Paulo. Valparaíso, São Paulo
Valparaíso is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The population is 26,822 (2020 est.) in an area of 858 km². History The municipality was established in 1937, when it was separated from Araçatuba. The town was founded by Francisco Leite Vieira in the early 1930s because of the expanding cultivation of coffee, however the land was inhabited by the Barbosa family in the early decade of 1900. Unfortunately, the Barbosa family did not have enough money to establish the land, so Vieira was the founder due to monetary reasons. During this period, the lands of the northwest regions of the state were already taken by coffee farmers searching through the forests of the west in search of new land for planting. There were many conflicts, mainly on the banks of the river Aguapeí between the Indians who inhabited the region and the coffee barons eager to expand their crops.
