Aparecida
Aparecida is a Brazilian municipality in the state of São Paulo. It is located in the fertile valley of the River Paraíba do Sul on the southern (right) bank. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of Vale do Paraíba e Litoral Norte. The population is 36,185 (2020 est.) in an area of 121.08 km². The municipality is sometimes referred as Aparecida do Norte. History Once part of the municipality of Guaratinguetá, it was emancipated in 1928. Geography Aparecida is located 168 km northeast of São Paulo and 240 km west of Rio de Janeiro. With an average altitude of 544 meters, and elevations varying from 525 to 620 meters, Aparecida has a hot climate with dry winters. Recorded temperatures are a maximum of 35 °C, a minimum of -1 °C and an average of 22 °C. Our Lady Aparecida ("Our Lady, the Appeared"), ( or ''Nossa Senhora da Conceição Aparecida'') is a title of the Blessed Virgin Mary associated with the Immaculate Conception. Her image, a dark clay statue, is widely venerated by Brazilian Catholics, who consider her as the principal patroness of Brazil. Potim
Potim is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of Vale do Paraíba e Litoral Norte. The population is 25,130 (2020 est.) in an area of 44.47 km². The elevation is 535 m. History The settlement developed slowly. It became a fishing and rural workers' village. At the time of Brazil's independence, the neighborhood was the largest producer of cassava in Guaratinguetá. During this period, in addition to coffee, sugar, brown sugar, corn, beans and the famous cassava flour were also produced. In 1900, the bridge connecting Potim to Aparecida was inaugurated, built with wood from the old Pedregulho bridge in Guaratinguetá, which had been replaced by a metal bridge in the previous century. Paraíba Do Sul
The Paraíba do Sul (), or simply Paraíba, is a river in southeast Brazil. It flows west to northeast from its farthest source at the source of the river Paraitinga to the sea near Campos dos Goytacazes. The river receives its name when it meets the river Paraibuna at the Paraibuna dam. Its main tributaries are the rivers Jaguari, Buquira, Paraibuna, Preto, Pomba and Muriaé. These last two are the longest and join the main river and from the mouth respectively .
