Aonghus Óg McAnally
Aonghus McAnally (born 20 June 1955) is an Irish radio and television producer and presenter, as well as an actor, musician, magician and billiards champion. He worked on both sides of the mic and camera for public service broadcaster (RTÉ) for over 40 years, retiring in June 2020. Early life Aonghus is one of four children born to Abbey Theatre actress Ronnie Masterson and screen actor Ray McAnally. Film and television producer Conor McAnally is his only brother. Music McAnally has been a guitarist in a number of bands including Mushroom, Maxband, Starband and Crackers/The Crack. As a solo artist he released a novelty record ''I am Alergic to Christmas'' (written by fellow broadcaster Shay Healy) in 1981. A friend of singer-songwriter Christie Hennessy, McAnally delivered his eulogy at his funeral. He created a touring show as tribute to Hennessy. Anything Goes (Irish TV Series)
''Anything Goes'' was a youth oriented television series of Ireland's public broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann. It first aired on 4 October 1980 and was on the RTÉ1 channel. It lasted for six seasons and finished in 1986. Overview The presenters of the show were Mary FitzGerald, Dave Heffernan, Aonghus McAnally, and Kathy Parke. ''Anything Goes's'' audience was aimed at children and teenagers. The content of the programme included music, visits from public figures, competitions, filmed items, and cartoons. There was also coverage of news and current issues relevant to children. A popular aspect of the series was an arts and crafts "Make and Do" segment where presenter Mary FitzGerald demonstrated simple cooking and crafts. Christie Hennessy
Christie Hennessy (born Edward Christopher Ross; 19 November 1945 – 11 December 2007) was an Irish folk singer-songwriter. Although Hennessy was unable to read or write due to severe dyslexia, he still wrote his own songs such as "Roll Back the Clouds" and "All the Lies That You Told Me". Early life Hennessy was born in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland. His first guitar was made, especially for him, from a tea chest when he was six years old by his friend Jerry Quirke. He left school at the age of eleven and a half. His first job was as a messenger boy, and it was then that he discovered that it was important to be able to read. Liberties Press (also known as Liberties Media Ltd) is an independent book publisher based in Dublin, founded in 2003. The company's first publication was Con Houlihan's collection of sportswriting, ''More Than a Game'': the title was reprinted twice in a few weeks. Melanie Verwoerd
Melanie Verwoerd (; ; born 18 April 1967) is a South African and Irish political analyst and diplomat. She was previously a politician, ambassador, and the director of UNICEF Ireland. Verwoerd was elected as a Member of Parliament for the African National Congress (ANC) during the first democratic elections in South Africa in 1994, and re-elected in 1999. In 2001, she was appointed as the South African Ambassador to Ireland, a position she held until 2005. Between 2007 and 2011 she was the executive director of UNICEF Ireland. ''Wanderly Wagon'' is an Irish children's television series which aired on RTÉ from Saturday 30 September 1967Hourihane, Anne Marie''Sunday Tribune'' 11 August 2002. until 1982. Plot ''Wanderly Wagon'' followed human and puppet characters as they travelled around Ireland visiting interesting locations, rescuing Princesses and generally doing good. The original premise of the show expanded to follow the characters to magical lands of Irish mythology, and into outer space. The Wagon could fly, and using chroma key effects, the Wagon was shown hovering in mid-air, landing in various magical lands, and even traveling underwater.
