Aníbal González Irizarry
Aníbal González Irizarry (February 25, 1927 – November 14, 2018) was a Puerto Rican educator, journalist and news broadcaster. Early years González Irizarry was born and raised in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, where he received his primary and secondary education. He completed 3 years of high school at Sabana Grande High School before his family moved to San Juan. There he attended the "Escuela Superior Central" (Central High School) of Santurce. In 1942, when he was 15 years old, he began to work at " WPRA" a radio station in Mayaguez and soon became the station's main broadcaster. Radio broadcaster In 1950, González Irizarry moved to New York City to work in a factory. Whilst there he found a position at the radio station " WWRL" in a program called "La Voz Hispana del Aire" (The Hispanic Voice on the Air). Sabana Grande () is a Sabana Grande barrio-pueblo, town and Municipalities of Puerto Rico, municipality of Puerto Rico located north of Lajas, Puerto Rico, Lajas and Guánica, Puerto Rico, Guánica; south of Maricao, Puerto Rico, Maricao; east of San Germán, Puerto Rico, San Germán; and west of Yauco, Puerto Rico, Yauco. WKAQ (AM)
WKAQ (580 Hertz, kHz) is a commercial AM radio, AM radio station in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Currently owned by WAPA Media Group, the station airs a Spanish language talk radio format. Its programming is repeated on WUKQ, which broadcasts on 1420 kHz in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Ponce, and WYEL which broadcasts on 600 kHz in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, Mayagüez. The station was the first radio station to broadcast in Puerto Rico. According to Ernesto Vigoreaux, in the early days of music in Puerto Rico, the musicians would record music ''at'' the WKAQ radio station. WKAQ is the Puerto Rico primary entry point station for the Emergency Alert System. WKAQ was owned for many years by Angel Ramos, owner of the ''El Mundo (Puerto Rico), El Mundo'' newspaper, and eventual namesake for WKAQ-TV, branded as Telemundo. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a mainline Protestant Christian denomination in the United States and Canada. The denomination started with the Restoration Movement during the Second Great Awakening, first existing during the 19th century as a loose association of churches working toward Christian unity. Universidad del Sagrado Corazón (English: University of the Sacred Heart), abbreviated "USC" and often called simply Sagrado, is a private Catholic Church, Catholic university in Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico. Juan Ramón Abrams Jr, better known as Junior Abrams (born April 25, 1955 in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican television and radio sportscaster, actor and show host. Biography After years of radio broadcasting experience on WRAI AM with Harry Rexach's sports programs while still a student at Gabriela Mistral High School, Abrams first became well known to Puerto Rican television audiences during the late 1970s as the sports anchor of WKAQ-TV, Canal 2's Telenoticias en Accion.
