Anémone Marmottan (born 25 May 1988) is a French FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, World Cup Alpine skiing, alpine ski racer and French Army, soldier. Born in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Savoie, Marmottan won a gold medal in the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2011 – Nations team event, team event at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2011, 2011 World Championships, and the next day finished 14th in the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2011 – Women's giant slalom, giant slalom. Career Marmottan began skiing at age two with her family in her hometown of Savine, and joined the local ski club in her area, where she got her first taste for competing. In March 2011, she fractured her tibia and fibula while racing in a Europa Cup event in Zakopane, Poland. The injury resulted in surgery, six months in a cast, and another six months wearing a support brace. Giant Slalom
Giant slalom (GS) is an alpine skiing and alpine snowboarding competitive discipline. It involves racing between sets of poles ("gates") spaced at a greater distance from each other than in Slalom skiing, slalom but less than in Super-G. Giant slalom and slalom make up the technical events in alpine ski racing. This category separates them from the speed events of Super-G and Downhill (ski competition), downhill. The technical events are normally composed of two runs, held on different courses on the same ski run. Course The vertical drop for a GS course must be for men, and for women. Anna Veith (née Fenninger; born 18 June 1989) is an Austrian former Alpine skiing, alpine ski racer and Alpine skiing at the 2014 Winter Olympics – Women's super-G, Olympic gold medalist.
