Anyama, Ogbia
Anyama Town, also known as Anyama-Ogbia or the Kingdom of Anyama-Ogbia, is a historic Ijaw people, ijaw and a traditional Non-sovereign monarchy, subnational monarchy with origins dating back to the 17th century. Founded in 1655 by Adih, a successful fisherman and trader, the town became an important center for commerce, dealing in seafood, palm oil, and other goods. Located in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Anyama town is also the headquarters of the Anyama Clan. Initially called ''Otu-Egbesu'', meaning "home of Egbesu," the town’s name reflects its spiritual connection to the Egbesu deity, the Ijaw people, Ijaw deity of war, protection, and justice. The Ijaw people, also known as the Izon people, are an ethnic group found in the Niger Delta region in Nigeria, with primary Population, population clusters in Bayelsa State, Bayelsa, Delta State, Delta, and Rivers State, Rivers. The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is a federal government agency established by former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo in the year 2000, with the sole mandate of developing the oil-rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Niger Delta
The Niger Delta is the delta of the Niger River sitting directly on the Gulf of Guinea on the Atlantic Ocean in Nigeria. Twon-Brass, previously known simply as Brass or Brasstown, is an Ijaw community on Brass Island in the Nun River estuary of Southern Bayelsa State, Nigeria, in the Brass Local Government Area. Twon Brass was found in the year, 1895 The traditional ruler is King Alfred Diete-Spiff, Amanayabo of Twon-Brass. The Ijaw languages (), also spelled Ịjọ, are the languages spoken by over 14 million Ijaw people in Nigeria. Classification The Ijo languages were traditionally considered a distinct branch of the Niger–Congo family (perhaps along with Defaka in a group called Ijoid).
