Anuja Prabhudessai
Anuja Prabhudessai (born 8 February 1962) is a judge of the Bombay High Court, in Maharashtra, India. She is the first woman from Goa to be a High Court judge in India. Life Prabhudessai was born in Mapusa, Goa. She studied English literature and law, and joined the bar in 1985. Judicial career Prabhudessai practiced law in Goa, including at the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court. She became a Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate (First class) in 1991, and was appointed the Principal District and Sessions Judge in Panaji, Goa, in 2012. She also presided over the North Goa Children's Court and Legal Services Authority. In 2010, Prabhudessai was suspended from her position on the grounds that she had committed an irregularity in awarding compensation to a petitioner in a motor vehicles accident claim. Mapusa (म्हापशें) is a town in North Goa, India. It is situated 13 km north of the capital Panaji. The town is the headquarters of Bardez Taluka. It is located on the main highway NH-17, linking Mumbai to Kochi. In Portuguese, the town is known as Mapuçá. History Mapusa is a small town clustered around the Mount (Alto). Medical Termination Of Pregnancy Act (1971)
Abortion in India has been legal under various circumstances with the introduction of the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act, 1971. The Medical Termination of Pregnancy Regulations, 2003 were issued under the Act to enable women to access safe and legal abortion services. In 2021, MTP Amendment Act 2021 was passed with certain amendments to the MTP Act 1971, such as women being allowed to seek safe abortion services on grounds of contraceptive failure, increase in gestation limit to 24 weeks for special categories of women, and opinion of one abortion service provider required up to 20 weeks of gestation. Rickshaw
A rickshaw originally denoted a two- or three-wheeled passenger cart, now known as a pulled rickshaw, which is generally pulled by one person carrying one passenger. The first known use of the term was in 1879. Over time, cycle rickshaws (also known as pedicabs or trishaws), auto rickshaws, and electric rickshaws were invented, and have replaced the original pulled rickshaws, with a few exceptions for their use in tourism.
