António Morgado
António Morgado (born 28 January 2004) is a Portuguese road cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career At the 2022 UCI Road World Championships held in Wollongong, Australia, Morgado won a silver medal in the men's junior road race after he was outsprinted by Emil Herzog at the line. After a highly successful two years as a junior, Morgado was recruited by UCI Continental team for 2023. That season, he won the International Tour of Rhodes and repeated his performance at the World Championships, winning another silver medal, this time in the under-23 road race. The following season, he joined UCI WorldTeam on a four-year contract. After finishing fifth in the Tour of Flanders in late March, he took his first pro win at the newly revived Giro della Romagna three weeks later. 2024 UCI Road World Championships
The 2024 UCI Road World Championships was the 97th edition of the UCI Road World Championships, the annual world championships for road bicycle racing. It was held between 22 and 29 September 2024 in Zürich, Switzerland, alongside the 2024 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships, UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships. A total of thirteen events were held, consisting of six road races, six individual time trials and a team time trial mixed relay (all of them finishing in Zürich in front of Sechseläutenplatz). The event was overshadowed by a fatality in competition, as 18-year-old Swiss rider Muriel Furrer died from injuries sustained in a race crash during the junior women's road race. The event was continued at the express request of Muriel Furrer's parents and family, with a series of tributes and memorials. Team Time Trial
A team time trial (TTT) is a road bicycle race in which teams of cyclists race against the clock (see individual time trial for a more detailed description of ITT events). The winning team in a TTT is determined by the comparing the times of (usually) the fourth-finishing rider in each team (though the relevant finish position can be otherwise specified in advance by the race organisers). This means that each team will try to get their first four (at least) riders across the finish line in a tight group: it is actually a disadvantage for any rider to finish far in advance of the fourth rider, as by staying back a faster rider can help the fourth rider to get a quicker time. An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock (in French: ''contre la montre'' – literally "against the watch", in Italian: ''tappa a cronometro'' "stopwatch stage"). There are also track-based time trials where riders compete in velodromes, and team time trials (TTT). ITTs are also referred to as "the race of truth", as winning depends only on each rider's strength and endurance, and not on help provided by teammates and others riding ahead and creating a slipstream.
