Antón Arieta
Antón Arieta-Araunabeña Piedra (6 January 1946 – 7 May 2022), known as Arieta, was a Spanish footballer who played as a striker. Club career Born in Durango, Biscay, Arieta played youth football with local Athletic Bilbao. At the age of 18, he was immediately promoted from Lezama into the first team, scoring a career-best 12 goals in the 1964–65 season to help his team to the seventh position in La Liga. During his ten-year stint at the San Mamés Stadium, Arieta appeared in 358 games in all competitions, netting 83 times. He won two Copa del Rey trophies with his main club, scoring in the 1972–73 edition, won 2–0 against CD Castellón. In summer 1974, Arieta signed with Hércules CF also of the top division. After only one goal in 12 matches in his second year, he retired at the age of 30. International career Arieta earned seven caps for Spain in 23 months. Durango, Spain
Durango is a town and municipality of the historical territory and province of Biscay, located in the Basque Country, Spain. It is the main town of Durangaldea, one of the '' comarcas'' of Biscay. Because of its economical activities and population, Durango is considered one of the largest towns in Biscay after the ones that compose the conurbation of Greater Bilbao. Durango has 29,715 inhabitants (2023). The town is crossed by three rivers (as illustrated in the town symbol). The Ibaizabal river is the main river, and lies in the middle of its wide valley, with the Urkiola mountain range and natural park to the south. The tallest peak is Anboto ( in elevation). Etymology There are many differing opinions about the origin of the name Durango. Basque linguist Alfonso Irigoyen has suggested its origin to be in the name ''Duranco'', probably used in the early Middle Ages.

Eneko Arieta-Araunabeña Piedra (21 August 1933 – 27 December 2004), known as Arieta, was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward. Club career Born in Durango, Biscay, Arieta joined Athletic Bilbao in 1951 from neighbouring CD Getxo. Barred by the likes of Agustín Gaínza, Rafael Iriondo, José Luis Panizo, Venancio and Telmo Zarra, he appeared in only two La Liga games in his first two seasons, but scored in his debut on 9 September 1951, a 4–2 home win against Sporting de Gijón. After the arrival of new coach Ferdinand Daučík before the start of 1954–55, several veterans began being gradually replaced, and Arieta succeeded Zarra as team top scorer, netting 20 times in 28 matches during the campaign and also winning the Copa del Generalísimo against Sevilla FC. He added 15 goals the following season, helping his team conquer the sixth national championship of their history.
