Antònia Vicens
Antònia Vicens i Picornell (born 1941) is a Majorcan writer in the Catalan language. She is a recipient of the Premi Sant Jordi de novel·la prize and the Premi d'Honor de les Lletres Catalanes. Biography Antònia Vicens i Picornell was born on 27 March 1941 in Santanyí, Balearic Islands. Her first published book was a collection of short stories, ''Banc de fusta ''. Her novel, ''39º a l'ombra'', was awarded the Premi Sant Jordi de novel·la prize in 1967. In 1977, she joined the board of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana, serving as vice president for the Balearic Islands. She received international recognition after being honored with the Creu de Sant Jordi in 1999 and the Ramon Llull medal in 2004, which she gave back in protest at the government's Spanish language policy. Premi D'Honor De Les Lletres Catalanes
The Premi d'Honor de les Lletres Catalanes (Catalan Literary Lifetime Achievement Award) is an award instituted by Omnium Cultural since 1969 to recognize a person by their scientific or literary work, written in Catalan language, the importance of their work and his/her significant contribution to cultural life of the Catalan Countries. The prize is awarded annually, with 30,000 Euro and it can't be shared between different people or declared void. The jury consists of nine broad-intellectual and is renewed by thirds every two years on a proposal from the board and the advisory bodies of Omnium Cultural. Santanyí
Santanyí () is a municipality on the Spain, Spanish island of Majorca, one of the Balearic Islands, situated in the westernmost part of the Mediterranean Sea. This municipality in the southeast of Majorca is home to the towns of Santanyí, Calonge, s'Alqueria Blanca and es Llombards, as well as Cala d'Or, Portopetro, Cap d'es Moro, Cala Figuera, Cala Santanyí, Cala Llombards and Cala de s'Almunia.
