Antonín Šváb Jr.
Antonín "Toni" Šváb Jr. (born 9 June 1974) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from the Czech Republic. He earned 4 international caps for the Czech Republic national speedway team. Career Šváb first rode in the British leagues in 1994 after signing for Exeter Falcons. Later in 1996, he rode for Middlesbrough Bears. Šváb won a silver medal in the 1999 Speedway World Team Cup for the Czech Republic national speedway team, Czech Republic. He has entered in three Individual Speedway Junior World Championship, Individual Under-21 World Championship finals (1993–1995) and has started in the Speedway Grand Prix and the Speedway World Cup. In 2001, he won the Argentine Individual Speedway Championship, Argentine Championship. On 8 January 2006 Šváb suffered very serious accident during a race in Argentina. Speedway Grand Prix
Speedway Grand Prix are a series of stand-alone motorcycle speedway events over the course of a season used to determine the Speedway World Champion. The series started in 1995 replacing the previous format of a single event final. The first winner was Hans Nielsen of Denmark. Event format The format for a Grand Prix changed for the 2007 season onwards. Sixteen riders take part in each Grand Prix and over the course of twenty heats each rider will race against every other rider once. The top eight scorers advance to a semi-final and from each semi-final the 1st and 2nd placed riders will advance to the GP final. In this format all rides counted towards Grand Prix points totals, including the semi-final and final, the maximum points for a single GP is 21 (5x heat wins, semi final win and final win). The 2000 Speedway World Team Cup was the 41st edition of the FIM Speedway World Team Cup to determine the team world champions. Individual Speedway World Championship
The World Championship of Speedway is an international competition between the highest-ranked motorcycle speedway riders of the world, run under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). The first official championships were held in 1936. Today, the championship is organised as a series of Speedway Grand Prix events, where points are awarded according to performance in the event and tallied up at the end of each season. However, up to 1994, it was usually run as a single-night event after qualifying rounds during the season, leading up to a final consisting of 20 heats, where points were awarded according to riders' heat placings and then tallied up at the end. Individual Ice Racing World Championship
The Individual Ice Speedway World Championship is an Ice speedway championship held annually to determine an individual World Champion. History The first Championships were held in 1966. A European Championship was held for the two years preceding the World Championships. The event has been dominated by the Soviet Union/Russia, who have won all but seven of the World Championship titles since 1966. Sweden has won five times, Czechoslovakia twice and Finland once.
