Antonis Remos
Antonis Remos (, ; born Antonios Paschalidis, ; 19 June 1970) is a Greek singer. Biography Early life He was born in Düsseldorf, West Germany. Later his family moved back to their native Thessaloniki, Greece, where he finished school. During his childhood he got involved with music and learned to play the guitar and drums. First commercial success (1995–2000) After many appearances in Thessaloniki, in 1995 Antonis Remos had his first live appearance in Athens. He performed live next to famous artists, such as Dimitris Mitropanos, Stefanos Korkolis and Marios Tokas. This same year he signed his first contract with Sony Music Entertainment, Sony Music Greece, planning to release his first album. The first album which was released in 1996 and was titled after his name, became platinum in a few months. Marios Tokas
Marios Tokas () (8 June 1954 – 27 April 2008) was a Cypriot composer of traditional music born in Limassol, Cyprus. During the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus, invasion, he fought as a soldier against the Turkish invaders. In 1975, he went to Athens in order to study in the philosophical school. At the same time, he studied in the Ethniko Odio because he wanted to start a career as a musician. In 2004, Tokas and his six-member orchestra gave a concert in Vienna. Mikis Theodorakis
Michail "Mikis" Theodorakis ( ; 29 July 1925 – 2 September 2021) was a Greek composer and lyricist credited with over 1,000 works. He scored for the films '' Zorba the Greek'' (1964), '' Z'' (1969), and '' Serpico'' (1973). He was a three-time BAFTA nominee, winning for ''Z''. For the score in ''Serpico'', he earned Grammy nominations. Furthermore, for the score to ''Zorba the Greek'', with its song "Zorba's Dance", he was nominated for a Golden Globe. He composed the "Mauthausen Trilogy", also known as "The Ballad of Mauthausen", which has been described as the "most beautiful musical work ever written about the Holocaust" and possibly his best work. Kostas Hatzis () (born 13 August 1936) is a Greeks, Greek singer-songwriter and musician of Romani origin. Kostas Hatzis was born in Livadeia, a city in central Greece to a Romani family. Considered a leading composer and a pioneer in the Greek social song, he has popularised the "voice-guitar" style, voicing ballads with social messages. His grandfather was a popular clarinetist and dulcimer player. Hatzis quickly followed in his grandfather's footsteps. Antonis Vardis (; 7 August 1948 – 2 September 2014) was a Greek composer and singer. Born in Moschato, a suburb of Athens, Vardis established a 40-year career as a composer and singer, collaborating with well-known Greek singers: George Dalaras, Yiannis Parios, Vasilis Papakonstantinou, Haris Alexiou, Dimitra Galani, and Anna Vissi. Ioannes "Giannis" Spanos (, ; 26 July 1934 – 30 October 2019), also transliterated as Yannis Spanos, was a Greek music composer and lyricist. In his early days as a musician he was also a piano accompanist. Spanos won the music prize at the 1971 Thessaloniki Film Festival for composing the score of the film '' Ekeino to kalokairi''. Biography Spanos was born in Kiato in 1934. His father was a dentist. Spanos was influenced by his sister's piano studies, and moved to Athens at the age of 17 to study at the National Odeum where he learned to play the piano. His father wanted him to become a scientist so he sponsored a yearly trip around Europe; Spanos lived briefly in Italy, Germany and the UK, eventually coming to Paris, France, whereto he eventually moved more permanently in 1961. Dimitrios "Mimis" Plessas (; 12 October 1924 – 5 October 2024) was a Greek musician, composer, conductor and pianist. Life and career Plessas was born in Athens. He attended the Lycée Léonin school in the Athens suburb of Nea Smyrni, and subsequently obtained a degree in chemistry at the University of Athens. He was then awarded a scholarship to attend Cornell University in New York, where he obtained a PhD in chemistry on the protein myelin. George Theofanous (, ; born 9 January 1968) is a Greek Cypriot composer and producer. He has sold more than two million records and written more than 500 songs in the 1990s and 2000s. Recording artists for whom he has written and produced for include Nana Mouskouri, George Dalaras. His work has received a total of nine Arion Awards, which was an award show by IFPI Greece. Yiannis Parios () is a Greek singer, with a career spanning five decades. Biography Yiannis Parios was born Ioannis Varthakouris (Ιωάννης Βαρθακούρης) on the island of Paros. He made his first appearance as a singer in 1969. In 1985, he released his 15th album ''Ego kai esy'' (Greek: ''Εγω και εσύ''; English: ''Me and you''). It contains the greatest hit of the singer "Kokkino Garyfallo" ("Red Carnation"), featuring Haris Alexiou.
