Antonio Amorós
Antonio Amorós López (9 January 1927 – 3 August 2004) was a Spanish athlete who specialized in long-distance events and cross country running. Early life Antonio Amorós was born in Caudete, Albacete, on 9 January 1927, to local farmers who owned vineyards and land on which they lived. When the Spanish Civil War broke out in 1936, the 9-year-old Amorós had to leave school to help his father with the farm work. Career When the War ended, Amorós joined ''Centuria Pedro Gil'', where he practiced swimming, cycling, and football, standing out in the latter, where he played as a midfielder. However, football ended up not working out for him, so he continued with his parents' vineyards and orchard until 1948, when he was asked to take part in a 7-kilometre foot race to form a team to represent Albacete in the Spanish Championships of the Youth Front, which he won, thus going to the Championship, where he finished in seventh place. Caudete
Caudete () is a municipality of Spain located in the province of Albacete, Castilla–La Mancha. It has a population of 10.163 (From INE 2015). It is part of the Altiplanicie de Almansa ''comarca''. History Following its Christian conquest in 1240, Caudete became part of the Crown of Castile as result of the Treaty of Almizra, featuring a mudéjar population. It later passed to the Crown of Aragon, and the first Christian settlers arrived after a charter was granted in 1305. There were ongoing disputes between Caudete and nearby Villena over control of the Alhorines Valley, an important wheat-growing area. On the wake of the , the town was besieged and taken by force by Castile. It was reincorporated to Aragon on 22 October 1436. Caudete became part of the land of Ontinyent in 1446. Gregorio Rojo
Gregorio Rojo Sagredo (3 May 1920, Burgos – 8 May 2006, Barcelona) was a Spanish distance runner. He participated in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, where he participated in the 5000 meter and 10,000 meter races. He was the six-time winner of the Jean Bouin Memorial race, the most wins of any male runner in the race's -year history. He participated in the International Cross Country Championships in 1949 and 1952. After retiring from running in 1957, he began coaching. Yecla () is a town and municipality in eastern Spain with 35243 people registered, in the extreme north of the autonomous community of Murcia, located 96 km from the capital of the region, Murcia.
